Where do I find the “migrate Charts” option? I don’t see it on or in any of the chart tabs.

Is filemanager+ the same App as File manager plus?

Yes, the Migrate Charts work-around can solve the problem, but it should not be necessary.
Standard Android apps can easily access shared storage using the Storage Access Framework.

Re: Import GPX on Android

I just installed OCPN on a new Samsung phone running Android 14, which seems to have the most strict implementation of "scoped storage" yet. The file managers I have used can't even see anything in app install folder (../Android/data. Tried a couple of suggested file managers, some could see and list files in this area, but couldn't read/write here, so no copying, etc.

I found this workaround, using Shizuku and FV File Manager. Shizuku uses adb to open a shell which FV file manager can then use to access the files. Here is a good explanation, follow the links inside -
https://xdaforums.com/t/access-andro...izuku.4644152/

This guy explains very well - https://youtu.be/e1GIAtT5USw

Using this process I can now copy files into and out of the OCPN folder, which I am used to doing routinely in my laptop installation for backup/restore of .gpx files, etc.

As a Linux guy, I am used to having complete control of my computer; Android is a little frustrating in this regard, but of course still worlds greater than other commercial operating systems.

Good luck, I am really glad Dave got OCPN working great in Android;>)

Re: Import GPX on Android

Sadly, with my latest Android update on my phone, FileManager+ no longer accesses the Android/data folders. (Still works fine on my Android 13 tablet.)

Oh well, I can still use my laptop (and also, there is the "Migrate charts" option).

Re: Import GPX on Android

If your gpx files are on your laptop or desktop PC, connect your Android device via a USB cable. Android should show a notification saying some thing like "Charging this device via USB" . You may need to pull down from the top of the screen to see your notifications. Tap on the notification then choose "Tap for more options", then select "Use USB for file transfer" .

On the PC, go into File Manager and navigate to This PC. Double-click on your Android device name and drill down to Android/data/org.opencpn.opencpn/files. This is exactly where Android Opencpn goes when you import or export a gpx file and navigate to storage/emulated/0/android/data/org.opencpn.opencpn/files. Windows File Manager has no difficulty writing to that folder, create new folder, whatever.

Note - my Android device uses Android 12. Dunno about later versions.
