Re: Install CM93 on a Mac using OpenCPN

Where we cruise, many of the surveys that are used for the most current charts are 100 years out of date.

As for up-to-date marks, ranges, etc, those sticks the locals push into the mud change or disappear regularly and the bleach bottles on a string sink every couple of weeks - no charts could keep current with them no matter how hard they tried.

3 year old charts are no problem.

I have the very latest up-to-date CMap charts on a chartplotter and the CM93/2 on a computer. I have never seen a difference between them from Panama to Belize. Not a single difference.

I use CM 93 as back up to my regular charts

What has changed in the North Sea in the last 3 years?

Sorry for not clarifying that the charts I have are CM93January2011 specifically - BUT thanks for all you help and guidance, crapper 30, in finding the problem of why they are not loading on my MBP as they did on my friends windows laptop! What a welcome to Cruisersforum.com cannot wait to share the most fabulous welcoming and first post . . .

Re: Install CM93 on a Mac using OpenCPN

Sorry for not addressing the problem Sappho. I have never had a problem on my MBP - installing those charts has been as easy as others have posted.

You will need to decompress the charts (makes a big sized folder), then point OPCN at the folder containing them and tell it to build the chart database.

So I don't know why you are having troubles.
