Installation in RP5 crasehs

Everything was fine till this morning that OCPN refuses to start in RPi5 Bookworm 64.
there was nothing, just after click on the icon started to show the screen and quits.

unistalled from the system but not able to start again:
Code:
sudo apt autoremove opencpn
reboot

sudo apt update && sudo apt install opencpn
at at last got this:
Code:
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias... Hecho
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
El paquete opencpn no está disponible, pero algún otro paquete hace referencia
a él. Esto puede significar que el paquete falta, está obsoleto o sólo se
encuentra disponible desde alguna otra fuente

E: El paquete «opencpn» no tiene un candidato para la instalación
I installed for the first time 5.9.1 as follows:
Code:

$ repo=http://mumin.crabdance.com/bookworm-backports
$ wget -O- $repo/opencpn.list | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/opencpn.list
$ wget -O- $repo/KEY.gpg | sudo tee /etc/apt/keyrings/opencpn.key
$ sudo apt update && sudo apt install opencpn
now installation doesn't work and no way to install it again.

tried with Add/Remove programs of o.s. and not found opencpn.

attached the last log, date is for today (28 Jun)

How can I do to install it again on the Raspi?
if preferible I don't want to install add-ons like flatpak nor openplotter.

corsair....

I am not a great fan of linux CLI commands for package management. Too opaque. Error messages give no hint on how to fix things.
I recommend that you install and use "synaptic", a GUI based package manager. Runs on every debian-based linux system I have ever used, with a common GUI.

$ sudo apt install synaptic

$ sudo synaptic

This app is fairly intuitive, especially useful is the "search" function.
Please give it a try, and search for "opencpn". Let us know how it goes.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Installation in RP5 crasehs

Hi dave,

thanks.

I have to carry the rp5 at home at seen that sources for OCPN was an empty file, comparing all this with my rp4 at home, so I remove the file and did a complete cli again.
I deactivated all plugins.
after that also available in the programs install of the system.
I suspect that there is some kind of firewall in the router on board, because at home this pc doesn't say anything when done a
sudo apt update
but when done on board gives an error in the mumin.....

at least was installed, but again just after doing the click in the start program it quits again.
desperate I started to collect info for making a fresh install of bookworm and gave a try, and I still don't know that OCPN started working.

after that I recover one by one, by new installation, the plugins and did not see any error, I could not install the plugins that came with the program, but I had renamed it as .old, so I renamed again and worked.
still can't understand why was done that when the installation is nearly new, and nothing has been installed apart from the antivirus (clanav).
another annoying thing is that installing notepadqq, installs well but not able neither edit one file nor type anything ???????
I guess that after having a sharp lookout of the system not so long I'll made a fresh install.

Re: Installation in RP5 crasehs

Hi Dave, thanks for the hint

I tried at home with RP4 and something strange happens:
Code:
@S-212:~ $ sudo apt install synaptic
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias... Hecho
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
synaptic ya está en su versión más reciente (0.91.3).
0 actualizados, 0 nuevos se instalarán, 0 para eliminar y 0 no actualizados.

@S-212:~ $ sudo synaptic
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
Failed to initialize GTK.

Probably you're running Synaptic on Wayland with root permission.
Please restart your session without Wayland, or run Synaptic without root permission
I'm neither using Wayland nor using su.

if used without sudo:
Code:
@S-212:~ $ synaptic
Gtk-Message: 20:27:02.485: Failed to load module "window-decorations-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 20:27:02.486: Failed to load module "colorreload-gtk-module"
I've seen that create a script is really useful if I cannot connect to mumin on board.
and got this screen:
