Installing OpenCPN on Ubuntu 18.04 - PPA problem

Hi,

Because of a glitch, I removed ocpn from my home pc with intention to reinstall but the Re-Install process breaks down and I can't find a way past this point.

Here is a copy on the terminal showing error message:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppapencpn/opencpn
A Chartplotter and GPS Navigation Software.

OpenCPN is a free software (GPLv2) project to create a concise chartplotter and navigation software for use as an underway or planning tool. OpenCPN is developed by a team of active sailors using real world conditions for program testing and refinement.

some of your packagesources doesn't provide packages for your architecture (virtualbox at i386 not available) or your distribution ( ffmpeg). Disable these sources and try again

Good Luck

Hi Blacksea,

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't know how to go about your advice to "Disable these sources".

Can you help again?

Ubuntu is updated and upgraded.

Thanks

Tony

You will get rid of them by either editing the /etc/apt/sources.list file or by deleting the respective files from /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory. Which of the two depends on how you added them to your system which we do not know.

Re: Installing OpenCPN on Ubuntu 18.04 - PPA problem

As you are a ubuntu user the easiest thing to do is to use the Software Sources tool included in ubuntu.

With it you can see the different origins and deactivate them without having to remove them and go testing which of them is causing you the problem. It's easier than editing or deleting files that can be important without much experience with it.

Thanks for your advice, everybody.
It worked and I now have OpenCPN back again.
As a bonus, deleting those files, for some reason or other, also resulted in a notable increase in the speed of my pc.
