Installing plugins on Mac not working

I've tried to install several plugin packages (.pkg) on my MacBook Pro. They seem to be installed in the Plugins folder of the application, but they don't show up in the available plugins list in OpenCPN. I'd like to get NMEAconverter working, but I don't know how to get it to be available in Options-->Plugins.

Re: Installing plugins on Mac not working

What does it mean if OpenCPN log says it's "jailing" a plugin? Maybe this log entry will shed some light:

All plugins are handled by the plugin manager. Not by download and install any pkg.

Options-->Plugins: Click "Update catalog: master". When finalized scroll down to desired plugin. Select it and "Install"

Re: Installing plugins on Mac not working

Well, that sounds great! However, for whatever reason, and why I'm seeking help, is that it doesn't seem to work that way on my Mac. I have clicked the "Update Plugin Catalog: master" button a bunch of times. But, whereas the website list of plugins lists 49 plugins, my list only contains 29 plugins.

I have also tried downloading the tarballs for the plugins I want and using the "Import" button, but that doesn't work either. I used the OpenCPN Plugin Downloader and got a file named nmeaconverter_pi-1.3.1.0-darwin-wx32-x86_64-11.4-macos.tar.gz. I got an error when I tried to import that file. I extracted it and got a folder containing a couple of files, neither of them a .tar, and neither of which would successfully import.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Re: Installing plugins on Mac not working

Solved! I uninstalled OpenCPN and reinstalled, and the plugins I wanted are now in the list. It begs the question of why they weren't able to be brought in by clicking the "Update Plugin Catalog: master" button, but I'm glad I now have them.
