Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

great news, for some complicated reason we can't do standard installation. I would love to have a qtvlm folder in /usr/local or /opt and some user params in its home but it is not possible.

this will probably be solved in next big version of qtVlm

OK lets try this again. Change .doc to .txt as the latter does not want to come through on this system.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

According to the README that comes with the sources:

Quote:
Building qtVlm
In order de build qtVlm you'll need to have Qt developpement suite.
To launch build: go in trunk folder and run: make
Installing:
Warning: install is only working on unix like arch
1/edit Makefile to adjust the install folder (prefix variable: prefix = ~/qtVlm)
2/ run: make install
What install folder did you specified?

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Works as advertized. Everything loads. The only nuance which is probably an Ubuntu display manager thing is that for the window header options to load you must start the program twice. This is indicated by the cursor in the screen scrape.

Second time round the header options in the window load. Icons, maps and polars, load first time you start it.

The latest release of qtVlm is out (3.3.0). Mode details here: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1045408

@sailias this version should normally fix your bars display problem too.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Maitai,
Had earlier version working. Just Downloaded 3.3.0 for Win7. log in, select real boat
starts downloading from http://www.virtual-winds.com/~oxygen/qtvlmMaps/gtVlmMaps.zip
101.7 mb

Pops up Select maps folder in URL C:\Program Files\qtVlm\maps
However the Folder: at the bottom is blank.
You would think that would say "maps" because it is pointed to "maps" does not complete.
The second time logging in and downloading the maps, when I fill in "Folder:" "maps"
It does not work then either...
Something seems to be wrong with saving downloaded maps, or I am doing it incorrectly

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Also, is this map download for gshhs? If so, can I just point it to the directory for gshhs in Opencpn? or some common directory location? Also how do I get to "Select Maps Folder" from the command menu? -It seems I have to close and restart QtVlm and a prompt for "Maps are missing" "download, cancel, choose a folder" when I choose a folder C:\Program Files\qtVlm\maps the same message just pops up again.... so then I have to login and select ok and it starts downloading again... to end in the same prompt for selecting a maps folder....

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Maybe you do not have the write permissions in c:\Program Files\qtVlm? Try to set the permissions or install the maps elsewhere (my documents\qtvlm\maps for instance).

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Okay, I even re-registered and saving the map does not complete.

--Okay, that is probably it. Is it gshhs?

Your french forums are reviving a high school class for this language challenged sailor. Wish I understood more of it!

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

If you have already the previous qtVlm version the maps are the same. Just select it when it asks if you want to d/l or select.

AFAIK the gshhs map in O are not the same (they are, but with less details I think, so it won't work)
