Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

I had a set of way points in a previous version (3.2.9)

How do I move them the the latest vers 3.3.1?

If it matters, I have not been installing in "Program Files".

Maitai, yes it is Win7x64. Does this make a difference? What should I do? Thanks. Rick

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Normally in 64bits mode you should not need this dll so it's really strange. You get this message after the installation when you launch qtVlm? Can you tell me the size of qtVlm.exe (3.3.1)?

You can try to delete everything in the new version and install again. It is not necessary to install in program files.

If you didn't install in the same place where the previous version was you can copy/paste qtVlm.ini, poi.dat and boatAcc.dat to get your WPs and all in the new version.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

I unzipped to C:\Data-Dart\Up-Soft\Navigation\QtVlm\3.1.1 and clicked on the exe. Is qtlm.exe (3,108 kb dated 7/11) an install exe or a run exe?
I have Qtvlm running from here: C:\Program Files\qtVlm with qtvlm.exe 3,360 kb. With data in C:\ProgramData\QtVlm (Maps) - Should I just copy the file into the C:\Program Files\qtVlm folder? Thanks.

PS thanks for this info:

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

hmmm you should download and run the installator: http://www.virtual-winds.com/~oxygen, on the right side of the page there is "qtvlm_setup-3.3-1", that's what you want to use...

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Rick re-reading your previous posts it appears you downloaded win-exe-3.1.1.zip, which is a very old version. You should take the 3.3.1 version

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

What operating system? Do you select real-boat or vlm-boat at first launch? If you select real-boat you must give a name to your boat (no password). If you select vlm-boat then you must have a valid account on vlm (free but password required)

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

George, I had that problem for awhile until I made sure I had successfully registered and logged in.
Try registering and logging in here through the wiki (uses google translate) Register and Log in
or through the english Loop de Mer website
Virtual Loup-De-Mer

(PS: See what Maitai wrote above, it is more accurate!)

Maitai, I'm new to Wikis. How does one participate in edit/improving the english version?

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

if you don't intend to use qtVlm in virtual sailing mode connected to VLM then there is no need to register. Just choose real-boat at start, give it a name and that's it.

Rick for the wiki you just need to login(so you need an account at and then you can start editing, it's quite straightforward. Well I will see if it's possible to get the wiki commands and menus in english too...

Well in fact once logged in you can go to preferences and choose english, so the only difficult part is to create the account...

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and Import/Export

Here is a link to the English version of the qtVlm Forum, "La Tavern" English forum - La Taverne
The translation is not operating on the full page, and beware that the translator is not perfect! Also you need to complete a free registration to use the forum.
