Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

Yes, you have reported two bugs in two different plugins and those bugs were confirmed by other users, thank you for that. That is all though, there is nothing to be assumed based on what you report.

OK.
Sorry to bother you.
Let's continue as if nothing had happened.
After all, my fear-mongering assumptions don't need to be verified.

This issue might perhaps only affect two plugins, but maybe not ...

After all, as I understand it, the main thing is that the US/UK version is reliable.
So, I pass my turn.
Bye.

Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

Late in the game for whatever reason, we have learned that we should use a different directory definition for user data, this is a change that was needed sometime ago.

I am very surprised that users are just now reporting this problem. Have they not used the plugins?

I would appreciate test of Sean's plugins that have trouble saving user data.

Status are is not one of those plugins.
Logbook is almost repaired.
Watchdog needs repair.
Weather routing is corrected so is climatology I believe.

Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

From where can I download some data for the logbook plugin that can be used to reproduce the problem?

Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

Rick,

Nohal has just proposed a fix for the statusbar plugin which seems to work well, so he was right, it's not an OpenCPN error but a bug related to the use of the language in this plugin.

Regarding the Logbook plugin, until now I did not use the fuel and fuelTotal columns precisely.
So, I hadn't really realized this rounding error (as illustrated in post # 1) and because this error also disappears when we choose the English language, I had mistakenly deduced that it was related to OpenCPN. ..

Nohal,
I attach here a "test VDR file" on which I added nmea sentences to display the fuel and fuelTotal in the logbook.
With the US version of the logbook plugin, the digits after the decimal point appear and are correctly deducted from the total.
In the European language version, the figures are rounded to integral and the totals do not correspond.
Thank you for your participation.

Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

The number format handling in this plugin is totally broken, not fixable with the amount of time I can dedicate to it now. The only advice I can give at the moment: Use English.
Not a problem in OpenCPN, nothing to do with other plugins, simply bad code of this particular plugin.

Re: Is this an OpenCPN bug ?

Thanks Pavel. I tried to update wxFormBuilder and was inn inundated with errors and undefined after being told that 4 wx procedures were no longer supported. I had to go undo these changes.

The main plugin code is so old that we will need an experienced programmer to send some time with it to updated to current wx commands.

It would be wonderful if a programmer who uses the plugin will give it some love and attention!

I've made the directory change, but would like to get the path consistent with other plugins. It does work now. Haven't released it yet.
