Laptop/Monitor for Ocpn

Instead of a touch screen I use a fixed screen in the cockpit and an air mouse. It is easy to waterproof a non touch screen and air mouse is cheap enough to be virtually disposable.


Non touch screen field monitors the type used by outside film crews are bright enough, very rubust and relatively inexpensive.

Main monitor is 24" Cello LED $180

Cockpit monitor is Eyoyo A7S Ebay $120

Mini wireless keyboard mouse - central touchpad with navpads on either side and mini keyboard below. The batteries got left in and I am about to replace it with. H18+ 2.4Ghz Mini Wireless Keyboard Full Screen Mouse Touchpad.

Depending on how adept or tenacious you are, you can get VGA/DVI/HDMI interfaces to connect the raw panel. That opens up the scene to many more screen sizes, as you could use screens from laptops.

+1 for a Toughbook. Any CF31 with an i3 or i5 will be a great tool. Well worth making the effort to find one with an internal GPS. The 4G LTE Radio is a very nice to have. When buying used, always check that the bios isn't password protected. Good luck!
