Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

You are almost there, just scroll that page a little bit and you will see this very README document in all its beauty
Yes, its a logical place and that's why it's there. For all the projects hosted on Github and having a README...

It is true that finding information in different GitHub is often a hassle for OpenCPN and all plug-in.

Greater centralization would be more practical.

I never knew that all was not registered quickly enough. I started the experiment but changing the time of the timer. With 30 seconds instead of 5 seconds, this poses no problem.

Otherwise, if you click on the red cross, why not hide the display of the window and make the recording in the background?

Definitely not for the devs... But if you guys feel you need more docs, written in a different style of language and a different place linking to the plugins, just start to write those docs and maintain that place. We will gladly help you do it, but most likely will not do it instead of you.

Pavel, I understand your point of view.

It is true that if this page was maintained regularly, with the latest versions of all plug-in, it would be better and that would be enough for users.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Gilletarom...
The problem is, that the majority of our users is using the stable 2.5.0 version and the plugin download page targets them.
If we start to mix it with the latest testing stuff, the result will be a support nightmare we will not be able to handle. For example from my GE plugin download numbers the rate is almost 90:1 in favor of the stable version. I can't even imagine how many times would I have to answer the "Where do I find the logfile?" type of questions if the normally silent mass of our users would start to use something that's not well tested by you brave adventurers.

If you want to be on the bleeding edge of the development and test the new features, you have to be prepared to have a bit of work to keep everything up to date and expect that sometimes things are simply broken. Even worse with the plugins that simply have a different rate of changes than the core in the beta cycle.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello fulup,

i've changed the readme-file.

if you follow this instructions you are able to compile and install the
plugin in Linux (thank's to Pavel).

konni,

the file 'OpenCPN_Logbook_Layouts.zip' does not work on Macs as you wrote in your Readme.

of course not, you didn't restart the timer.
you are able to change the interval only if you stop the timer before.
the 5 sec.-interval is used only for firsttime-users to demonstrate the timer.

the popup of the window is a reminder.
when the timer isn't stopped (e.g. in the harbour) you'll have after
hours a lot of useless entries, when the timer is running in the background.

konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

konni,

on a Mac it is in ~/Library/Preferences/plugins/

Furthermore the language files are in folders xy.lproj where xy stands for the language (e.g. 'de' for german). So the your normal languages zip file does not work on Macs.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

hello Konni

It seems to me that we never sent the language file updated to the FindIt.

In any case, it is not in GitHub this plug-in.

So here it is.
