Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

konni..

You are saying it does not work for ocpn 2.6.1729 ?
I downloaded the plugin from the official opencpn/plugin site..
I want the logBook for navigation purposes, not service or location of stores.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

konni..

Thanks,I found the right .dll and all working fine.

I have a request.. as you see from the thread I started the other day, there is a requirement for a manual backup should the GPS cease to function periodically or permanently. Several other nav. progs automatically continue the last course and speed until adviced otherwise until a manual course/speed change,or when the GPS recovers its function. A warning is displayed and the track changes colour.

Such a manual ´dead reckoning´feature can also be used as a simulation, following a track. Very useful at the planning stage. Fugawi Marine ENC has such a feature.

Your LogBook seems to have most of the features already, perhaps the above could be added as an option? Must be possible to manually input course, speed, wind and current correction.

Tore
you can insert manually course, speed etc. in the logbook and you must
it, when GPS is off. for the couse i implement today a dialog for more
comfort, it's not easy to write a 'bandworm' like
0323509.06N0791754.48E
copy paste this for demo, the distance is calculated automaticly.

for the future is planned to use 'own ship position' in case gps is off.
then the plugin has your requested feature. if Dave will implement your
sugesstion i can't say.
this is a work (plugin) for the next beta-cycle of OpenCPN. in the moment
i'm more interested to have a bugfree version of the logbook for OCPN 3.0.

best regards
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Konni thanks for an great extra, one question..i do yacht deliveries with 3 crew, so my watches work 4 hrs each during the day (6-10, 10-14, 14-18) then 3 at night (18-21, 21-24, 24-3, 3-6) then this allows a switch so you don't do the same watch everyday..is the a way of doing this in your log? Hello Konni,

Trying the LogBook, we see this window (see join jpg) :

What are these "comma" before the name of each person ?

Best regards

this is exactly what Jacekpio a few posts ago also likes.

it's not possible by now to do this automaticly.
i have to rewrite the watchlist-code, but this is on my todo-list
for the next release (> 3.0) of OpenCPN.

best regards,
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni..

Re your #319. I can not see any reaction in LogBook navigation area when the GPS is off. I have as you suggested, input both course and speed,as well as activated the timer every 10 min. The timer works but does not calculate distance or the new lat/lon.

The algorithm for great circle calculation can be found in the html text of this link:
Javascript Great Circle Calculator

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni..

To explain more clearly, this is what I would want to happen:

1. an Automatic modus which continues with the last course and speed, updating the position at time intervals set by the user whenever signals from the GPS is lost. A ´Manual operation ´ alarm should be set. Automatic retrieval when the GPS re-appears.

2. A Simulator mode should also be present, where course,speed,time/date and effects of wind, current etc. can be manually input. A facility to follow a track which exists on the opencpn chart with periodic updates of the position and time.

Christmas is not THAT far off is it??

Hello Gilletarom,

if you insert a firstname in the crewlist you know whatfor the comma is.

in the pot-file on sourceforge is 'same watch as' included.
on github i uploaded the pot again.

konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Tore,

i'm writing a plugin only, not the Mainprg.

the logbook can only write the data comming from the Mainprg and it
should never(!!!) change any data in the mainprg.

in the future:
when you work with ´dead reckoning´ you'll place your boot-position
in the mainprg and hit 'add line', this position can be taken from the plugin.
it can then calculate the speed and distance from the position.
but this is not available yet.

this will work also when Dave implemets a simulator mode. Here you can use the e.g. timer-event.

so all you wrote in your last post is more a task for the mainprg..

a logbook is a 'log' not more not less.

best regards,
konni

I have downloaded the pot file 10 minutes ago.

Yes, "Same watch as" is present in the pot file and weI have this item in the french file. But the item "Set same watch as" is not present in the pot file. And so we canot translate it.

Gilletarom.
