Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

the preview 1.90 for version 1.2 of the logbook is available

i made a installer-script for K/Ubuntu (64-bit only) also, download it here.

the translator-files are here.

Apple

Compiles the source ?
if so, can you send me the release-lib which runs with the
dmg-installation of OpenCPN ?
Then i try write a install-script for the Mac.

i didn't get to much feedback, so please post if this preview

Good evening Konni,

In collaboration with Gilletarom we are happy to send you a last French translation for the version 1.19 of your logbook.

We saw 2 or 3 words not translate but they are in our file. We think it's due to opencpn and the system of translation.

You made a very good job with your help system .
Thanks

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

hello Konni,

But we have some problem with the french translation.

With OpenCPN 3.1.919 :

The items used when we open the tab "Plugins" of the "Toolbox" are in English when they exist and are translated into the language file.

In addition, in the tab "Abbreviations" of "Preferences", the words entered in the French in the white windows "Semaine", "Jour" and "Mois" should be present in the initialization file OpenCPN "opencpn.ini". They are not. Gifts, when these items are used by the logbook, they are in English.

i agree, but on the first start when the options opened, only.
i must fix that.

When you opened the options in english and clicked OK, then the
(prefefined) english texts are stored in the .ini-file and loaded next time (even if you changed the language to frensh). Normally a user
selects the language first (e.g. frensh) so the right translation appears. - see image-
Same is on week, day, month in abbreviations.

You can test this. Delete the OpenCPN-ini-file, start and select frensh.
Now the frensh texts are in the ini-file.

best regards,
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

it is not normal to have to remove the initialization file to fix this problem.

I noticed that the text manually entered into the white window tab "Comportementr" have been included in the file intialisation. But this did not work for windows white tab "Abréviations".

Cordialement.

I think this is not a problem.
A user follows normally this steps:
  1. Installs OpenCPN
  2. Installs the charts
  3. Selects the language
When the user decided to install the logbook, then the logbook is installed with the -in step 3- selected language (e.g. frensh).

Now the user can alter the texts in options as desired.
These texts are stored in the ini-file.

I think you have in mind, that when the user changes the language,
the text should appear in the newly selected language (e.g. german).
BUT
when i now use the default translated texts (german), the altered
texts (frensh) are overwritten in the ini-file. When the user switches
back to frensh... where are my altered texts ?

Sure, i could save the texts for every language, but this would blow up
the ini-file. I don't install this, because only developers and translators
jump between languages. The tip to delete the ini-file in my last post
is thatswhy only for testing and not for users.

i must delete the entries for days(s) etc.. in options, they are not nessesary anymore.

konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I have recently become interested in your logbook and would like to know if the logbook data is accessible by other programs.

The reason I would like to access it is that up to now while sailing I use SeaClear to periodically enter a log entry. Later I extract this data along with the track data to create a KML file to show my route and have the logbook entries displayed as points along the path. I would like to instead use the data of your logbook.

Where is the logbook data?

Thanks

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello konni,

I see a bug not important but ...

When your logbook is running, in some cases, when the OpenCPN window is not up, it is impossible to restore it by clicking on the name of the process, berlow on windows screen

It is necessary to use rigth click and then to choice "restore".

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

When I export the data as a csv the format doesn't seem right. It splits the entries into two lines. The first line has fields up to the latitude position and the second line starts with the longitude position.

I I load it into EXcel it drops the Longitude.

See the attached csv file (added doc to get around size limit).

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Paul,

attached are three images to show how to load the csv into Libre/OpenOffice-Calc. to check the behavoir with excel i have to
reinstall the prg.

As you can see i used the labels from the logbook in the first line
and thatswhy i didn't alter the newline in Position.
i change this in version 1.2, than there will be Lat/Lon separated in fields.

i'll post it here when (the preview) is ready.

best regards,
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Gilletarom,

the only case i could find is when OpenCPN is behind another window,
(both windows are not fullsize) and the logbook runs a timer.
But with a click on OpenCPN-window or the OpenCPN-icon in the taskbar the logbook commes up.

Is this what you found ?
If not, please give me further info to reproduce this behavoir.

i set the logbook now to the topmost window when it pops up

best regards,
konni
