Are you shure that there is no problem ?

If I right click on "fr.po", I expect a file about 25 KB. I have a file of 185 kb. ... And so, it is not a ".po" file that I download.

Hello Gilletarom,

sorry, my fault.
I thought it works that way.

the po/pot-files are now available at sourceforge in a subfolder for translators.
LogbookOCPN - Browse /For Translators at SourceForge.net

this time i checked it.

best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

i've found a bug in "Select Logbook".

to find the right logbook is a lottery.
the logbooks are sorted but not the file-dependencies, so a click on
a logbook doesn't show the right one.

all logbooks are still there !

the bug is corrected in version 0.909.

i'm sorry

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni,

Just got in from a 3 week trip to Bonaire. Logbook worked great for the 4 legs of the trip we did. Thanks for a great tool!

Here are some comments from the trip. Some you may have already fixed in the new version, but will post here regardless.

1) When a degree of longitude is crossed, the distance traveled that is calculated is not correct. For instance, go from 61deg58min28sec to 62deg02min16sec, the distance traveled shows as > 100 nm and it should show about 4nm (slow hour ).

2) The depth still shows as 999. Here are my DBT sentences. First when I am at a depth my sounds does not read (>300ft), and second when I am at anchor.

$IIDBT,,f,,M,,F*3F

$IIDBT,17.2,f,5.24,M,2.86,F*2A

So, it looks like the depth sentence is empty when it is out of range, but Logbook shows 999 for it.

3) It would be nice to be able to select the format for the position field that is automatically entered. Either as deg, min, sec or deg, min, and decimal min. This is a nice to have....

4) When using OpenCPN in night mode, the colors for the logbook are very difficult to read. Its doable once you know your way around it, but if there was a way for you to have a better color scheme for night use that would be great.

Thanks! If you have any questions let me know.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni,

Just downloaded .908.

First, the overview page is great!! Well done.

Second, on the preferences page, it looks much better now as 2 tabs.

One question, to try to clarify for people.

Under Abbreviations->Windspeed.

There are 4 possible combinations:

True to Heading - This is true wind direction over land.
True to default - This is true wind direction relative to the boat.
Relative to Heading - ??
Relative to default - ??

What are the last 2 combinations for? Are these Magnetic instead of True?

Thanks for all the great work!

Hello kiltym,

sorry for the delay. i was a few days not at home.

  1. i found the bug in < 0.907 and correced it in 0.908
    it's now the algorithm
    sm = acos(cos(fromlat)*cos(fromlon)*cos(tolat)*cos(tolo n) +
    cos(fromlat)*sin(fromlon)*cos(tolat)*sin(tolon) + sin(fromlat)*sin(tolat)) * 3443.9;
    in 0.908 i've forgotten to add the distance to totaldistance.
    this is corrected in 0.909
  2. i used the checksum to decide.
    if(checksum wrong) then ------
    now, i see your NMEA-Sentence, there are no data in the sentence,
    if depth greater than xxx.
    i change/add this in 0.909.
  3. A german user also asked me this. It's now in 0.909
  4. This is a bit tricky, because the underlying wxWidgets uses the OS(windows/linux)-Colours. i haven't found a way which works in
    both OS to "fade out" the colours. By now it's hardcoded.
    Perhaps you can select in one of the next versions the night-colour
    in options. It's on my TODO-List
  5. the wind-settings:
    default means whatever your windmeter sends (relative or true)
    heading means winddir = heading + default (if winddir > 360) winddir - 360
Thank's for your sugesstions, i'll send you a preview of 0.909.
if you like you can act as beta-tester.

'til then

didn't answer correctly in my last post in point 5).

you are right, it's not clearly discribed by me in options.

there are two possibilities:
  1. a user has a windmeter only and fills in the winddir and speed manualy
    in that case he can decide m/s, kts... and direction true/relative
  2. with instrument connected to NMEA
    the instrument sends NMEA with m/s or ...., direction and reference T or R
    if GPS sends Heading-Data, then heading-data + wind
    else prg. falls back to instrument-data

So, with connected Wind-Instrument it's not nessesary to change Windspeed and Direction, only "to" set to Heading.

my english is not so well, i hope this makes it clear.

best regards

End 1.Watch

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

This is what i ment:

Policy = Number in the insurance papers
LOA = length over all of the boat
LOD = length over Deck
LWL = length in the waterline
GRT = Displacement brut.
NRT = Disiaplacement net.
Thames = Thames measurement (used/needed in England ?)
Watch = the person on the helm who is responsible for boat for a period of time

BTW 0.909 is coming soon
perhaps it better to wait a few days.

best reagrds

i was asked by a user to fill in this field.

Wikipedia says:
Thames Measurement, also known as Thames Tonnage, is a system for measuring ships and boats. It was created by the Thames Yacht Club, and was designed for small vessels, such as yachts. It was originally used for calculating the port dues for yachts;

i hope this helps.

Thank you. I did not know that.

But I think it's typically English ... I just browse through several pages of the French version of Wikipedia without finding a trace.

The "Thames measurement", created in 1876 seems to have been abandoned in 1906 in favor of the "Jauge universelle" (Universal rule).
The "Universal Rule" has itself been replaced by the "Jauge internationale" (Metre rule).

Is this a good idea to put this in the logbook? I'm not sure. (But this is only my own opinion).

Or, there must be an entire line dedicated to these three concepts.

But be careful not to unnecessarily complicated OpenCPN.

Best regards
