Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Greetings all,

I posted on the general Opencpn forum but have found this section specific to the Konni Logbook plugin so thought I would seek assistance here. I am new to Opencpn and have been having fun exploring while waiting for spring. I am currently figuring out the logbook and I have run into an issue while attempting to edit layouts. For some reason the edit layout dialog box will not open to its full size ans so I cannot click on the ''ok'' or "cancel" to activate the editing. I also can't resize the dialog box to see everything. Not sure what is amiss but would be great to customize the layouts. thank you everyone for any assistance. I run the program on a HP envy laptop with Windows 10

thanks again,

Maurice

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello again,

Thank you Skipperearly, this is exactly the issue I have encountered. I did not know there was a place to vote and will do so if I can figure out how to vote! I invite any other interested parties to vote up the fix as well as it's a great program. I am curious though, is there no other way to modify the layouts.
Could the layouts be edited and then installed in the plugin for example?

Cheers all

Maurice

@Mpoul

Please, look at the #846 message.

I think that's the same problem I encountered and that's why I had opened the question reported by Skipperearly mentioned above ...

But since then, this problem has been solved because now the window is expandable.

What is your version of Logbook ?

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello again everyone,

Thank you Shnapsy for this information, I have indeed the same problem, en français and in English so I am happy to know it has been resolved! I thought I had downloaded the current version on the Opencpn website (version 1.2). Would there be a later version somewhere else that could be used.

Merci, thank you for any information.

Cheers,

Maurice

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Super thanks,

I downloaded and installed the latest version with the fix and it works. Will have fun fiddling around with the layouts... and remove that Catalina 30 background and replace with a real boat!

thank you all again,

cheers

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

@MPoul: have fun with the customization - have done it with openoffice rather than html and struggled to get all the label- and fieldnames figured out. You may find attached list usefull - its not complete but a good start.
Have found out recently that some of less popular fields (meteorology related) don't update correctly and reported this in the flysprayer.

@Admin: strange that I have to add proprietary .doc to a .odt file to make it uploadable to the open source world.
Attached Files
File Type: doc Labels.odt.doc (45.6 KB, 27 views)

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Skipperearly,

Thank you for the warning and the labels file! I am also working with open office odt files and it is complicated to understand how they work in the logbook. I am not very computer/tech oriented! But it's all good fun. For some reason I cannot not view the crewlist/watch files although I can edit them.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Cheers,

Maurice

you can define in the setup under options the units in appreviations.

For distance I assume the calculation from the coordinates uses meters or naut.Miles accordingly - have not tested it as I use always nm, even on rivers.

For speed it will depend on the units used in the nmea sentence.

have also issues with crewlist/watch - there is a bug with odt not opening.
I found out that its often necessary to reload the templates to make things work again. Maybe it has to do with inconsistent handling of the directory structure (e.g. case intolerance).

I checked all the CPN settings configured on the metric system. It so happened that we use the metric system on the internal wow paths.
Distance to the logbook is written in miles, speed in knots. And where there is no setting change of the units of reconciliation.
Appeal to the developers! Please add a metric system for distance and speed.

At sea there is only nautical miles and knots, no metrics never.
You should accept this.
