Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

This message is inconsequential:
"C:\Users\Walkabout\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\ l ogbookkonni_pi.dll 09:57:55.448 WARNING imagpng.cpp:189 iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile"

Logbook seems to work in my Window setup. Try this please. Close Opencpn.

Remove the files in
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\cache\tarballs

Remove any logbook file or director from your opencpn installation (example)
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 5.2.0+4d956e1\plugins

Save the files in the logbook data directory somewhere temporarily and then remove
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\logbook\data and
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\logbook

Remove this directory
%localappdata%\opencpn\plugins\logbookkonni_pi

Remove the logbookkonni_pi.dll file in
%localappdata%\opencpn\plugins\

Now start OpenCPN and install the plugin using Plugin manager.

Here is Logbook working on my machine allowing addition of log entries while I am playing VDR with a tactics_sample nmea0183 file.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I followed your instructions, installed the logbook but OpenCPN still crashes when I want to open the logbook. The installation of the logbook seems successful but there is no logbook file nor directory in C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 5.2.0\plugins. I have put the OpenCPN log file in a zip file (remove the .doc extension).

This is correct. This directory is now reserved for internal plugins and old plugins.

The logbook installation goes into %localappdata%\opencpn\plugins with a dll and folder with "data". Is that what you find?

Then certain data for the logbook part should get copied to
C:\Program Data\opencpn\plugins\logbook\data
Is that what you find?

I think the reason it is not initializing and crashing is perhaps due to the settings being different in the ini, although I am not certain....

Perhaps you could rename your opencpn.ini to opencpn.ini-installed and start it again and try installing logbook to see if it will work? You can rename your opencpn.ini-installed back to opencpn.ini afterwards. You might have to remove the logbook section.

Sorry about thiis..

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Looking at the zip file:

Plugin lands here which is correct:

C:\Users\Walkabout\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\
C:\Users\Walkabout\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\l ogbookkonni_pi\
C:\Users\Walkabout\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\l ogbookkonni_pi\data\
C:\Users\Walkabout\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\l ogbookkonni_pi.dll

The plugin seems to be loading properly from the ini file.
See attached please. Take the pdf off.

I think it is a misconfigured opencpn.ini. Rename your current one temporarily and start opencpn to make a new clean one. Then load logbook and try it out.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Making a new opencpn.ini file did not help. I removed OpenCPN and the plugins for the Xth time again, removing the leftover files and directories (e.g. in user/appdata:local . . . .)
But this time, I also used CCleaner to clean up the registry . . . and yes, after reinstalling OpenCPN and the plugin, Logbook is working. Thank you for your help.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I am not out of the woods yet. I have again the same problem of Logbook crashing OpenCPN. There is not pattern of what could trigger this failing: once, it was after I enabled the GRIB plugin, another time after changing the display from single to double windows, another time after enabling the TacticDashboard. Each time, only removing OpenCPN totally and reinstalling it allowed me to use Logbook for a while.

I guess I let it rest until a new version comes out before to try again . . . .

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I am sorry about this inconvenience, but there must be something causing it and eventually we'll know what it is when someone can isolate the problem by being able to repeat the problem with a specific set of steps. Unfortunately random changes in Opencpn doesn't really help me. I will look again at the code to see if I see anything.. Thank you for your effort, it does help.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Thank you for your efforts. It is not an inconvenience for me: I have the logbook running happily on a Raspberry Pi 4 with OpenpenPlotter's OpenCPN 5.2

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Is there a way to move a logbook from one machine to another? Specifically from my Mac to a Raspberry Pi?

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Steve,
Try to locate your user files for LogbookKonni and save them somewhere, then use then on the new machine. Sorry I can't be more specific, but look at Leamas Wiki for Plugin Manager https://github.com/leamas/OpenCPN/wiki
under the path names for your OS

Thanks Rick!

That wasn't it, but it did get me thinking. The Logbook files on the Mac are pretty easy: ~/Library/Preferences/OpenCPN/plugins/logbook.

I "ssh"ed into the Pi and did a "find" to reveal that the plugin data on the RPi are in a hidden folder ./.OpenCPN/plugins/logbook.

From there it was simple... I used smb to connect the Mac to the Pi, did the ol' "cmd-." on the Mac to show hidden files, and simply copied the whole folder into ./.OpenCPN/plugins/logbook, replacing the existing folder. Viola! Log book moved!

Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Look at the post just below by Scarns
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3250271

You are not clear about what you want. If it is the location of managed plugins
look here at Alec Leamas wiki for managed plugins

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Yes, as Rick noted above, the data path where logbook stores data is at ~/Library/Preferences/OpenCPN/plugins/logbook.

If you copy those files to a different installation, the data will be the same up to that point.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Many thanks.

And, what is really crazy, you can read it in logbook itself. The path is noticed in an extra field after the logbook name.
I haven´t seen that before , because the window size was not big enough
