Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Konni

Where and when will your Logbook ver 0.911 be available for download ?

Can I suggest that you put your Logbook Plugin into the official OpenCPN Plugin Downloads page.

This would make it easier to check and download updates for your Logbook as and when you issue them.

Congrats on a very good piece of software which enhances the capabilities of OPCN.

Hello Doug,

i'm working on 0.911, but if you want to compile by yourself, the source is here on GitHub. I'll compile for windows and OpenCPN 2.6xxx and upload it to Sourceforge in the next hours. But keep in mind that it's a preview and maybe buggy here and there.

I tried to use the submission form on the OpenCPN (a few minutes ago) but i get a page which
doesn't contain the form. PlugIn Submission Form | Official OpenCPN Homepage

thank's for reply.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni...
I've added the logbook to PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage - It's a normal wiki page, so you should be able to edit it yourself if you have account on opencpn.org.
Let me know which core events you would be interested in - it's possible to implement them with the 1.06 plugin API and I am putting together a list of messages the core should emit to the plugins. There's a demo implementation of the messaging machanism in the upcoming version of the WMM plugin: https://github.com/nohal/wmm_pi/compare/wmm...messaging

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

I tested the 910 version with a little late but I was not available for a week.

Operation with the French language file that we made, EdelVoilier and me, seems correct.

But I can not do the test with WMM in parallel as it should be a new version of WMM.
As soon as Pavel will post a new version of WMM, I will do the tests.

Best regards

Gilletarom.

Hello Pavel,

thank's for installing the the logbook.
but how can i edit the content with a normal user-account. there's no edit
like on other OpenCPN-Pages, "View" and "Revisions" appear only.

for the logbook it would be great to have a waypoint-event with the following parameters:
name of waypoint arrived
name of next waypoint

a event if a route is activated is also usefull with:
ID and Name of the route

a function which makes it possible to readout the content (Routes) of the
RouteManager. By now the logbook reads the navobj.xml, it works, but if a user creates a new route, it's not displayed in the RoutesDialog of the logbook.
OpenCPN saves the navobj.xml on closing, so a user has to restart to see the new route.

Thank's a lot for this tip. I saw the new function, but i didn't know how it works.

Mail me your account name, I will check out with Will if he can grant you the necessary permissions.

Will add it to my list - I will check the details with you before I start to implement it.

It's on my list for quite some time as I also need this functionality for some of my longer term plugin ideas, so it will come at some point. If you want to implement it yourself, feel free to do it
For now, if you want access to the stuff created/changed in the running session, you can read navobj.xml.changes which is merged to navobj.xml during shutdown (or next start if there was a crash) - it's a performance/safety tweak not to have to save the whole navobj set on every operation.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

I saw that the 910 version with 250 runs and 911 runs with version 26-1310.

So I downloaded the 911 version and I started the installation.

I correct my first version of this post:

But the installation of the 911 was not built in the plugin folder of 26-1310.

I found nothing on the issue of the plugin 911.

The uninstall file of 911 went to put in the folder plugin of opencpn 2.5.

Best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

Jacob has send me a danish translation for the logbook, thank's a lot.
It's now implemented in the 0.910 setup.exe.

the 0.911-preview-installer has now a folder-selector, so if you have a
separate installation of OpenCPN-Beta you can select right folder now.

best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

First, this evening, I uninstalled 2.5 and 2.6. The I re-install these two version with parallel install.

Second, I download the last version of your plug-in 911 with selector of folder. I install the 911 in the folder of 2.6.

See the 3 screen copy.

You can see that your plug-in do not appear in the tab "Plugins" (Compléments" in french).

And so I cannot try these version of the logbook-konni.

Best regards,

Gilletarom.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni, great job!

Im working on Polish translation and have a few feature requests.
- edition of date and time format (choice between dd/MM/yyyy, MM/dd/yyyy, yyyy/MM/dd and so on... but best would be custom, defined by user e.g. HHmm (Polish Logbook time notation in 24h format without a ":"))
- more flexible watch system (more watches, shifting hours (it may be an idea for separate plugin))
- customizable toolbar with buttons "Engine start/stop", "Engine Full/Half/Slow ahead", "Set/Drop Sail x", etc.

Also i've got a bug report. OCPN ( Version 2.5.0 Build 2011-07-26) forgets that Logbook plugin 0.910 was enabled and starts with Logbook disabled.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

I'm sorry to inform you about the bug to install your version 0.911 (for ocpn 2.6.xxx). I have the same problem like Gilletarom.
The logbookkonni_pi.dll is in ...\plugins\ but i can't see it in OCPN !!!

I hope you can finalise this plugin before your other's.

Thank's a lot for your collaboration.

Regards
Pascal

Hello marchew,

thank's for your reply and the announced polish translation.

good idea, but before i have to check if wxWidgets 2.8.12 if it has the same bug in wxDateTime::Parse than 2.8.11. I see what i can do.
Quote:
- more flexible watch system (more watches, shifting hours (it may be an idea for separate plugin))
i can add more columns (how many?)for watches if desired. the watch system is very static and it's a good idea to create a new plugin for the watches.
if nothing changes OpenCPN has a new messaging system for plugins (thank's to Pavel), so that plugins can communicate with each other or the mainprg.
a plugin will be able to append a new line to the logbook with the desired textfield.
Quote:
- customizable toolbar with buttons "Engine start/stop", "Engine Full/Half/Slow ahead", "Set/Drop Sail x", etc.
What do other users think about this idea ?
My opinion is as follows:
if you use text-buttons, the toolbar has eventually more than one buttons-line (Set Genoa Drop Genoa Set Fock1 Drop Fock1 etc.),
with a automatic line it's not working, and manually you have the option
in the column 'Sails' to write e.g. 'Drop Genoa' and in a different line with a right click to fill in. For the engine i've added the the field Engine-Remarks.

i think this idea will blow up the plugin and is not realy nessesary.

Also i've got a bug report. OCPN ( Version 2.5.0 Build 2011-07-26) forgets that Logbook plugin 0.910 was enabled and starts with Logbook disabled.
i check this and correct it in 0.911

thank's again

i've compiled and uploaded the 0.911-preview again and checked it with a fresh download
(not compiled version) of OCPN 2.6.1310. I don't know what was wrong before, but now it's running (Win7/XP).
maybe it's not one of my best ideas to make a preview ;-)

Sorry for the trouble.
