Lost charts on upgrade

Forgive me if this has already been covered, my search returned 100's of threads
I have just upgraded to V 5.6 Open CPN. I tried to upgrade and save my settings however that would not work, just got errors on install.
Reluctantly chose the over write everything option, and now it cannot find my charts (Australian).
Must I buy them all over again, or are they still hidden somewhere in the PC?

Tnx

Jon

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

Jon, do you know where your charts were stored originally? You could do a search for "Chart" or "Charts"

Also you have not identified the type of charts, just that it is Australian, nor have you given any information

It is entirely possible that the old charts are still there, and a new chart directory was created.

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

Thanks for the response, my initial post was pretty basic.
I am running Windows 10 on an ASUS laptop
I downloaded the o-charts plugin as advised and I see this label now on the upper banner in OPTIONS
I think I have found the directory where I originally put the charts: PROGRAM DATA\OPENCPM\OESENCE_PI
I see the charts address displayed when I go to Charts but they do not load, ie I dont see anything except the generic background.
If I go to the banner O-CHARTS, I see a box with graphic saying Australian Vector Charts 2020. When i click on this I get a box giving details of original purchase and the 2 assignments. I tells me to refresh chart list, which I do, and I get a box naming the charts with EXPIRED below. This expired label has been present for years, but everything worked perfectly until the upgrade
I did re index the database, but all this did was to lose my settings and revert to standard

I do appreciate your help and will buy the charts again, if I have to, however Im very nervous that any new download could see the same issue as Im now getting.

Incidentally, I do not have my GPS fob plugged in, oops, left it on boat
Thanks again

Bodgy...

if you have updated to OCPN 5.6.2, then you shall migrate the oeSENC plug-in to the unified o-charts plug-in.
You find the step-by-step manual here:
https://o-charts.org/manuals/?lng=en
Your case: "migrating oeSENC charts"....

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

I followed all the advice but have made no progress. I still see the Australian charts 2020 displayed but nothing seems to enable them.

I have obviously done something wrong, maybe inadvertently deleted the expired charts, but why do they still come up in the charts\o-charts tab?

Getting desperate here!

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

Expired charts will be listed when this option is enabled - in the chart list of the o-charts tab.
Is the tab shown, the o-charts plug-in hence enabled and the fome roeSENC plug-in disabled?Following the steps of the manual, where do you stumble? Are there error messages?

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

Hi Hubert,
I am back onboard and still trying to get my charts to load. I have an Australian set loaded on my dongle.
I seem to have everything working ( update to v 5.6.2, logged onto o-charts and updated, ticked the plugin and configured / refreshed etc.). I have used the original folder and updated same in the app.

the problem is that the maps don't load, so there is no map in the app.

the maps show as loaded in the ocharts tab under the charts option.

the app does not ask to validate my license / usage per the user guide "Each time you will use the charts from the set, a pop-up will inform you about the licensing period of the charts and you will have to accept the terms of use.".

thanks

Aidan

Re: Lost charts on upgrade

Hubert & all,

Halleluiah!, they now work - the o-charts plugin has an update available; to v 1.0.25.0 that didn't come with the upgrade to 5.6.2 and so with the plugin upgrade and refresh etc. it worked

thanks
