lost osEnc charts ...

So, here I am, cruising along, and I lost my osEnc charts ... they are tied to my dongle, and still present in the directory, but OpenCpn no longer appears to know about them ..

I think I accidentally double clicked the icon ... and it tried to start two copies, andd somehow lost its settings. Anyway, I have tried re-enabling the plugin, but that didn't help, clcicking the various rebuild database buttons doesnt help, neither does the preapre enc charts button ...

Any ideas? re-downloading over expensive/slow data whilst on passage is not really an option.

Unfortunately, the forum does not allow 700kb text files, I've renamed it as .PDF as that has a 2mb limit.
Attached Files
File Type: pdf opencpn.log.pdf (702.8 KB, 35 views)

Re: lost osEnc charts ...

I see the following from the log:

1. The oeSENC plugin is loading correctly, dongle is detected.

2. A previous oeSENC chart loaded (on 2021-06-04) was found at:
/home/pi/.opencpn/oesenc_pi/sgl001CD428-UK-2021-2/OC-44-121102.oesenc

3. Are the oeSENC charts still present at this directory:
"/home/pi/.opencpn/oesenc_pi/sgl001CD428-UK-2021-2"

4. Have you tried manually adding this directory to Settings->Charts->Chart Files...??

Re: lost osEnc charts ...

Yes, the charts still are present in that directory.

I am unable to manually add the directory as it is a hidden directory on the .opencpn folder. You can't add any hidden directories.

I'll move it to the home directory, see if that helps ...

OK, that worked, thankyou, I can put the paper charts way again now, much appreciateD.

A good feature would be some way to archive settings at the click f a button and restore them if it all goes wrong ...

ANyway, thnaks fr the assistance. All good now.

Yes you can! There is nothing special with a hidden directory in Linux except for the name. It must start with a dot.
There is normally a setting in a filebrowser to make hidden files visible. Once you can see it, just treat it like any other directory.

In this particular case I just right clicked in the file-browser to activate the last small dialog.
