Macbook pro and GPS receiver ?

Hello all and apologies if these are questions frequently asked in advance!

I have a 2012 macbook pro running Mojave OS and Open CPN 5.2.0 all running fine and can import GRIBS, weather routing etc.

However, am after getting my position (GPS) to the macbook, so can it be done using an Android phone anyway? If so, how?

If not, what is a good USB/Bluetooth GPS dongle to purchase (do not want to spend too much as just learning how to use OPEN CPN at the moment and use Predictwind Offshore and Navionics also)?

Update, after some googling found this Android app and it is working!
