MBtiles not displaying

Hi All,

I've downloaded the mbtile files and unpacked them form the chart locker, and enabled them in OpenCPN, but they aren't displaying and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Attached are a couple of pictures of my screen. We're running 5.6.2

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: MBtiles not displaying

Zoom in.

Sometimes they are only saved for higher zoomed magnifications.
So, zoom in with the mouse wheel onto one of the charts.

I thought that might be a problem so I zoomed all the way in. Didn't see anything, and it is my understanding that I should at least get some sort of outline for the charted areas even if it's not displaying....

Re: MBtiles not displaying

See if you enabled the chart at the lower edge. Sometimes they are listed there but switched off.

I don't even get a green bar like the existed all. It's like they're not even there. Is there a step I missed to enable mbtiles? Or do you just download them, extract them, and then load them and they display?

Re: MBtiles not displaying

The outlines for the MBTiles are red. They are represented by violet rectangles in the chart piano bar. All you have to do is add a directory containing them to your configuration. For example in the case shown on the attached screenshot, this is what you see in the logfile related to it:
Code:
20:45:19.434 MESSAGE chartdbs.cpp:2526 Loading chart data for /home/nohal/OneDrive/Documents/Charts/mbtiles/ant_peninsula_google.mbtiles
20:45:19.436 MESSAGE chartdbs.cpp:2220 Adding chart file: /home/nohal/OneDrive/Documents/Charts/mbtiles/ant_peninsula_google.mbtiles
20:45:19.436 MESSAGE ocpn_frame.cpp:4638 Finished chart database Update
20:45:21.361 MESSAGE chartdb.cpp:1286 Initializing Chart /home/nohal/OneDrive/Documents/Charts/mbtiles/ant_peninsula_google.mbtiles
Unfortunately the photos you post are pretty useless to find out what is going on on your system - we have absolutely no idea if you actually have any mbtiles at all from them... Make sure the files are where you think they are, if they came compressed in eg. a zip archive, that you actually uncompressed them, etc. And read the logfile (The ? icon in toolbar, then click the link). There simply are many things that may be wrong that we can't deduce from your information.

Here are a couple better screen shots. I downloaded and unzipped these mbtile files from the chart locker. Added them into OpenCPN and when I go to Turtle bay as an example, which is in the area of the charts, nothing is shown. No piano bar, no outline of the area. If I can provide other information, just let me know what you'd like to see (and how to find it) and I'll post it.

Thanks.

What does the logfile say in respect of this?

Re: MBtiles not displaying

I haven't been there, but if you asked me, I would say you decompressed the archive with the mbtiles after you added the chart directory in OpenCPN configuration. Go to Toolbox -> Charts, check the Force Full Database Rebuild checkbox and click OK. If charts still not visible, please post the logfile again.
FWIW, the mbtiles files you have in D:\Charts and Navigation\2023 Pacific North America\Mexico- Pacific Mainland seem to be OK, do you see them?

I'm pretty sure I unzipped them into the file they are currently in before adding them in OpenCPN. Still not displaying.... post Database Rebuild

I couldn't see either the Baja Pacific or the Pacific Mainland. No outlines, no piano bar... It's like they aren't loaded at all.

Re: MBtiles not displaying

Now the logfile finally shows that they were actually added to the chart database

I am downloading them, but it will take the whole night, so can't check if they are fine until tomorrow.
