Re: Migration issues from earlier verion to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

Yes !!!! THAT FIXED it.
Open GL was enabled, and I unticked as you suggested.
Re did the import and it all worked, ie the maps are still displayed correctly

This is a new NUC I7 and I know you will say get the latest drivers, but they are already as this was new about 2 weeks ago, and I got the drivers from Intel directly myself.

Thanks very much for youre help. If you still want the log file just say and I will send.
Its 1:25am here so im off to bed. I will carry on tomorrow with the kap files not displaying. That is equally as wired for me, because sum do display ie terries, but so far not one of mine display... Anyway to be continued.... Again thankyou.

It is you who wants OpenGL working correctly as it sure is you who will be back in no more than a couple of days asking why MBTiles are not working without it...

So as I'm getting up several hours later: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...?product=80939

And from your screenshot it does not look like you have any KAP charts configured.

What do you mean? 5.0.0+9065270 is the normal 5.0.0 download from https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/downloadopencpn.html

Re: Migration issues from earlier verion to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

Morning;
In answer to the above questions;

Where is that version.... I assume you mean where did I source it from. It came from Terry (hope I haven't got him in trouble ) he gave it to me to test.

Am I the one looking for OpenGL to work ? Untill you said that Mbtile requires openGL no it would not have bothered me, and I have not raised OpenGL questions before. However now you tell me I need it to run MBtiles then yes I would like to fix OpenGL

In regards to KAP files and the suggestion of them not being installed. I believe they are installed properly as per the same process in V4 unless there is something different required for V5. I simply added the directory under charts where my kap files are and hit apply, then later when that did not work hit scan charts and then again later when that did not work force full db rebuild. By did not work I mean the process completed of adding the directory, it went through the motions raceing through the file names, appeared to have even loaded them, but as I scrowl around the chartered area, none of my kaps appear.

That I believe answers the overnight questions

No, that does not Your logfile could. And doublechecking you actually did what you think you did and the charts are where you think they are and that they are what you think they are...

Re: Migration issues from earlier version to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

OK I will go back and find the log file and send.
Yes I have checked a number of times that I have done what I usually do. The attached example is for general I. For this example I made a single directory, called it test, and placed one kap in there as per the screen dump. Opne GL is still off.

Log file still to come

Now that we finally know for sure that you are trying to use it in portable mode this whole time, you would save yourself so much trouble if you simply did a normal installation...

LOGS:
Given we were having trouble with open GL being enabled last night I expected maybe the files would be dated this month at least but they are not. However here they are anyway.
These are all dated 21/03/2019 I suspect probably before the current problem

Unless your system has the date set 3 weeks wrong, these are sure not the logs we want. Please, do yourself, and myself, a favor and do a normal installation of OpenCPN - Download the installer from https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/downloadopencpn.html and then run it. Start the program from the Windows Start menu or the desktop icon as everybody else does, download a few normal NOAA RNC charts using the chart downloader and see if they display. If they do, we may continue to whatever weird stuff you feel is necessary to do to make you happy.

Re: Migration issues from earlier version to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

Doesn't seem to have helped..

Cut the original install, moved it to a temp directory, because it has MBtiles there I will want back later.

Didi Clean install from the link 43.167mb
Downloaded from your URL

Installed, and took defaults figuring that was the safest.
Install completed and I chose run.

First screen shot step 1 I was not expecting to look like this.
Configured directories in charts that did not exist and it didn't make the directories.

Removed those directories from charts.

Added my own directories to charts

Step 2 image is the result
Realized it probably turned OpenGL on so checked and yes it did, so disabled open GL and charts displayed normally.

added my Philippines kap files directory to the charts tab, they did not appear on the chart

Did scan charts and full db rebuild still no kap file charts displayed

Increased raster chart scaling to 5 still no kap files

So what did I miss ???

1st screen dump is attached.

Re: Migration issues from earlier version to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

What did I do to deserve that you ignore what I write?
- You again have OpenGL turned on, as it is reported as usable by the system and I suppose you did not turn it off. We will get back to your GPU drivers later.
- Can you, please, please, really, go tho the chart downloader, download the NOAA raster charts, for, say, Alaska, and show me there are none visible in Alaska (with chart outlines turned on)?
- Can you please post your logfile? If you click on the "?" icon, there will be a direct link to it, nothing to guess or think about.

Re: Migration issues from earlier version to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

I will repeat the install,
Perhaps there was stuff lying in Program data, I understood the -p meant it did not add stuff there and there was no install or uninstall.
Anyway I will clean that up and repeat the process.

Ok I will follow you direction. and not delete yet

Re: Migration issues from earlier version to OpenCPN V5.0.0.9065270

Ah I did NOT ignore what you wrote to be clear.
I did NOT turn on open GL the installer did by default.
Im not familiar with the chart down loader so tried 1 of my kap files and was heading then to chart down loader.

So because our above messages crossed and for clarity I did not repeat the install I said I would do just above, when I discovered program data might still have been an influence, so I have left that alone.

I went to chart downloader and downloaded some charts, but I as I said am not familiar with this process. Attached example though does appear to have worked
