I have found partial transparency to be quite useful. With the GE2KAP program and Google Earth I routinely create imagery charts that have partial transparency (as when cm93 information is desired .. such as depth information) and also have been corrected in location. The image shows a harbor where both are visible. (Note the location change at the bottom of the imagery chart near the red arrow).

Re: Multiple Chart Windows

What about a chart overview in the dashboard plugin?

Re: Multiple Chart Windows

Under Linux this is simple by just opening two instances.

It would be even more useful if you was able to run two instances in full screen (F11) where you can split the view vertically on the same display and maybe just use the mouse to adjust the width used by each instance by drag left or right a common vertical size adjust line/splitter.

Today you will have to adjust the horizontal size on each instance instead of a common slider for both instances.

I wrote a simple chartscale plugin which doesn't seem to have much attention, but probably does what you are asking

Multiple Chart Windows

Attached is an example screen grab file using MaxSea for a passage a number of years ago. Am I overlooking a way to do this with OpenCPN?

Thanks!
To endorse your requirement here - I do this same parallel function but in a different way. I run a zoomed in Garmin and a zoomed out iPad Navionics. I should probably migrate Navionics to OpenCPN.
