Do you think there will ever be a Navionics plugin available for OpenCPN?
For me that would be the best navigation solution.

For nothing more than a comparison; is there a difference also in your Navionics and the one use here: My Ship Tracking Free Realtime AIS Vessel Tracking Vessels Finder Map > Change default chart setting to "Navionics - Nautical"

The web page seems to have a recent version of the Navionics charts of Finland (based on observing what small mistakes they have corrected).

Re: Navionics Charts

Please excuse me for being dense here.

I have some Navonics CF format chart sets (circa 2010) we inherited from the PO. They obviously work on the Raymarine plotter, but I would like to do some work on my backup computer. That is dual booted and has both Fugawi (WinXP) and OpenCPN in its own (unix variant) partition.

Any way I can work through Fugawi or elsewise to use these existing charts on either Fugawi or OpenCPN?

Re: Navionics Charts

Have anybody tried creating .kap maps from SASPlanet?

A range of different map sources are available in raster format.

Tore, of course. GE2KAP does it. You know that.

Tore is talking about something like that (example attached here).
This is a kap file from SAS-Planet using Navionics. See the SAS-Planet site how to build and receive such charts.

Re: Navionics Charts

And I am saying that GE2KAP does that including Navionics chart when sasplanet has them available. You can get GE2KAP from the Downloads page of my website: Sample

Perhaps you have not remarked that you don't need GE2KAP.
The sample above was directly downloaded from SAS-Planet, nothing else needed.

Re: Navionics Charts

CarCode your screenshot doesn't show a chart its just a png file. As far as I know GE2KAP is the only program that will create a chart from SasPlanet.

Re: Navionics Charts

Keeping up my dense theme, could you please give a wee bit of intro to sasplanet? Where do I find these charts?

My first question was is there a way to display my CF format Navonics charts in OpenCPN or Fugawi. I take it the answer to that is a resounding NO.

I'm trying to find Caribbean charts I can view on OpenCPN. Ideally I want to have Explorer or Wavylkne charts on both my iPhone/pad and on OpenCPN. I don't mind paying for the charts, but prefer to not pay twice.

Re: Navionics Charts

I created charts for most of the Caribbean from various sources using GE2KAP and can be downloaded by following this link:

The work on all navigation programs including OpenCPN
