Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Chuck...
Thanks, can reproduce the problem with your data - there are several tropical systems, but the plugin does not recognize where one ends and the other begins, hopefully an easy fix.

Hi Pavel

Back online now. Just curious if you had a chance to work on the problem? Not hassling you just asking?

Kind regards

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Chuck...
Unfortunately not yet, too busy with my normal job. It is now number 2 on my OpenCPN TODO list so should be resolved reasonably soon.
Just curious - is the same problem present with the current datasets?

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Hi Pavel

I have been running the Fiji fleet code into both OpenCPN(I know still issues) and the Physplot which most people are using in the South Pacific. Ran both together for the past week and seeing huge differences between them. OpenCPN seems to have more detail than Phyplot but I am not sure which one is correct since OpenCPN plugin is still a work in progress.

What I wanted to pass onto you is that you can easily obtain the Fiji fleet code by sending an email to query @ saildocs.com and putting send fleet.nadi in the message. This will return the fleet code to the email that you sent the request on.

To: query (at) saildocs.com
body of email:
send fleet.nadi

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance

Regards

Chuck

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Chuck...
Yes, I know about it. The NADI data should basically give you the same info as http://www.met.gov.fj/aouth_west_pacific_marine.php for the same time.
The comparison of the two should tell you who's right...

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Hi Pavel

First time we have been able to get internet in some months. Just a query if you might have been able to squeeze in some time to fix the fleet code problems we have discussed in the past. A number of boats are using the fleet code here in French Polynesia and occasionally we see it showing lots of lines on the screen.

Hoping you have had the time to have a look.

I have some examples if you need them please let me know

Thank you and warm regards from the Marquesas islands

Chuck

Pretty nice new image from Ocean Prediction Center

Ocean Prediction Center - Atlantic

Would like to get them to make IACFleet versions!
I promise I will write them.

--Thought, would there be a way to process the above into IACFleet?
I suppose that would be a tall order, but then the IACfleet could be put up on a website anywhere.

Bye Bye Brasil IACFleetcode - Someone contact them!

Removed the Brazilian IACFleet download option as the source data is not available through the new website anymore

(If anyone is interested in them, you may contact try to contact the Naval Meteorological service and ask how to get the IAC Fleet data mentioned in https://www.marinha.mil.br/chm/dados...o-ao-navegante from the current system)

We need someone to contact Brasil Met to get IACFleetcode back.
This is a loss, as IACFleet Code is an excellent way to transmit weather information using very little data.

All Met Offices should support it! Write your metoffice and ask them to support IACFleet code!
All Users are going to have to become advocates for themselves and fellow cruisers of this important and effective resource will be lost forever. Write your favorite MET and plead with them to provide a static link to daily IACFleet Code! Then advise us. We should have this available worldwide.

I am new to fleetcode and downloaded iacfleet_pi, and copied the dll extension into tge plugin file of OpenCPN. It does not appear on the plugin list when opening OpenCPN. Why is that and what can I do to correct this?Olivier, sailmaryann
