Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Have uninstalled the driver. Then followed this

Quick Start Guide - rtl-sdr.com

Tried first with NET 4.5 on this Win7x64 Computer. "No Compatible device found" but the drivers seemed to be installed and working properly.

Found this, why doesn't SDR# support NET 4.5?? It is possible!
How to: Configure an App to Support .NET Framework 4 or 4.5
How to: Configure an App to Support .NET Framework 4 or 4.5

Found that to enable .NET 3.5.1 I had to do the following:

How do I install .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 7? - Super User
Control Panel\Programs > Pick "Turn Windows features on and off" Then Check all items under
NET 3.5 and wait. Then reboot.

Then reinstall the drivers and SDR#
Still get "No compatible Device Found even though NET 3.5.1 is installed.

Now I am thinking it is my USB 3.0 ports.
This is a real pain.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Have tried the new rtlsdr dongle in many ways. The problem may be because my USB ports are all 3.0, instead of 2.0.
The supplier is sending a new dongle from China (20 days). In the meantime I am trying to figure out how to revert back to USB2.0 with a minimum of disruption (so I can then easily get back to USB3.0...) so I can check if 2.0 vs 3.0 is the issue. -Don't know why the stupid drivers don't just work with USB3.0 because USB3.0 is supposed to be backward compatible... It may be that the drivers are not updated for USB3.0, but I do not know that yet, have just seen some installation instructions here that say the USB must be 2.0.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Sean has updated rtlsdr_pi you will find it Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass
under 3.3.2028 PI Win directory.

Any suggestions from anyone using rtlsdr if I must be using USB2.0? (thus derate my USB3.0 ports)?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Previous USB software drivers prevent installation of new drivers.
Under Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers appears "Realtek2832"
Highlight that and right click, then check the "Remove driver software" and apply.
The drivers appear to be removed. Then I eject the device and the "Realtek2832" disappears.

Now I can try to install Zadiag as outlined in the rtlsdr documentation here
rtlsdr Plugin | Official OpenCPN Homepage using Zadig - USB driver installation made easy (default settings should be fine according to Sean).

Remove the DVB-T+DABB+FM Dongle and reinsert.
Run Zadiag and install the WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) driver as shown in the link above.

I am having trouble getting it accepted. I might have to reboot after removing the USB dongle and the driver software. The old device software appears to be reinstalling when I insert the dongle, not leaving me a chance to install the right software.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Ok an older "Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 0)" installed so I right click uninstall and check "Install software drivers".

Then the Zadiag software found the dongle using "install driver" "WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) and the software appeared to install.

This has been a real pain. I hope it works now.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

The leftmost side under DRiver says "None"
Driver Installation says "Success"
This does not correspond with the typical installation shown at the link
Zadig - USB driver installation made easy (default settings should be fine according to Sean).

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

rtldsr seems to have completed calibration after about 20 minutes with -98. There are not many AIS signals here in the Upper Penninsula MI near Traverse City, so I guess that might be why I get no messages and no AIS, although I still think things might not be working properly.

Can't get any signals to show up with SDR sharp or HDSDR or AisDecoder.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

If it didn't get messages, it should fail.. I don't think it should calibrate to -98 this is a bug.

You need to be in a harbor or something to calibrate properly.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Sean I still have no idea if this device is working. I.think the correct drivers might be installed, and I have tried sdr# and HDRS and they do not recognize a device. However drivers show as working properly. AIS DECODER does not show a visual or sound signal so hopefully this is because there are no signals to pick up! More later after a busy harbor

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Does anyone have any suggestions to determine if the drivers are installed properly and dongle is working by using an fm signal and some software that uses the same driver? I am not even sure this device works!

If you're in the US you can tune a broadcast FM station. That's how I verified mine was working. I run linux so I can't advise on SW.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

When in RTLSDR when I select "Preferences" Radio Button Enable FM 104.4
Opencpn Stops and tries to send a crash report.

I wonder what this means?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

So far support is only for ais decoding in windows.. so this won't work. I should make it not crash though.

I need to make the plugin give a lot more useful error messages as well, I plan on making this soon.
