OK,whatever the reason,the fact is NONE of my entered POI's are working!

What happened? They all worked fine before the last two versions.

Just noticed,all the POI's Mark/WP Properties comes up in EDIT mode,in spite of the
fact that the files can NOT be edited from the layers area and hence the links obviously
do not work.

Ok, will post a patch to turn off edit mode for WPs contained in a layer. If you turn it off manually for now, everything is OK?

No,they can not be turned off manually,all locked.

I am sorry,but that is NOT the problem. By default,both Edit and Add are blanked out and not functional in the layers mode. The real problem is,none of the links will activate.
All the URL links are there... See attached in WP modus.

I made a parallel installation of the previous v. 2.6.1511 and all the POI links work the way they should. Must be something in the newest version causing the problem.

Create one "normal" waypoint, not part of a layer.
Right-click it, select properties and turn off the link editing.
All your layered POIs will work just fine.

Patch to solve it automagically is on the way to Dave.

Sorry,but my original guess in #153 was not right as you see from my #156.

I downloaded v 2.6.1511 in parallel with v 2.6.1524 and the previous version works perfectly with regards to the activation of the POI links. There must be another reason.

The audio POI link I mentioned is working perfectly in v 2.6.1511 but not in 2.6.1524

Silly question,but,can anybody tell me how to re-set the Vista file download/play options?
I am trying to play an MP3 audio file direct on-line and was at first given the option to either play the file with the MS Media Player OR download the file.

I think I choose to play the file but did not want to download it every time,which is what
is happening now. How do I change it?

sinbad, it is usually a setting in the internet browser that determines what happens with online content....look around in settings there...that's pretty standard-but for Vista, yikes..

Would it be difficult to implement an extra feature in the POI setup,where a POI link would be activated whenever a route comes within a distance specified in the POI configuration? An audio or visual warning would then be activated.

The Media Player Classic is the best tool to activate these short messages.
I have set it as the default player.

The short warning POI files are located in the same area as the .ini file.
I will create a downloadable data base for these type of files later.

I have been testing the POI function so many times I think I am getting confused..

Am I right in thinking the links in the Mark/WP Properties can be BOTH http:// AND also C:dir/file from local drive? If so,my links to local drives do not function.

This is in v. 1511. None of my links in v. 1524 are working...

Seems my problem with non activating local POI utilities was an error in my laptops operating system.

But NO POI links activates at all from v. 2.6.1524
