NMEA 2000 support in JavaScript plugin

Next winter when I am ashore again, I would like to look at adding N2K support into the JS plug-in. This could allow decoding and handling those N2K messages not supported by OCPN (rightly) because they are not part of OCPN’s functionality.

I do not have N2K functionality at home, so I will need the following:

1) Samples of N2K data for a variety of PGNs together with what they decode to
2) A volunteer or two to test my efforts

For samples of N2K data, I think we need something equivalent to VDR to capture data. I am aware that this data is binary, so it might need to translate the data into a character format? Has anyone got something like this?

Any advice or suggestions, please.

Dear Antipole,

I can provide you with files generated by can dump. They can be replayed into OpenCPN via can player. Well, on a Pi.

I will send you a PM with a link to the corresponding folder on DropBox.

BTW: is there a script to generate PWM signals on a pi?
