No data from Airmar transducer

I run open cpn 5.62 on a windows lap top with a Shipmodul multiplexer.
Newly installed !
I have Ramarine instruments running on seatalk ng.
Wind instrument running excellent.(apparent/true wind speed)
STW and SOG showing correct
GPS is O.K.
But I don’t get depths and I don’t get water temp.
I do get the depths and temperature on my chart plotter but not on open cpn !
Any advice?

Thank you !

Opel..
You could install plugin VDR.

Establish all connections to OCPN. Start VDR (See pict.) to record your incoming NMEA0183 data for a couple of minutes. Attache the file here and see if someone want to have a look.
Tips: You can name the record file for example "VDR_opel.txt". Later it may not pass the forum size rules so rename it e.g. "VDR_opel.txt.pdf" before upload.

Opel
Your transducer is a NMEA 2000 DST810 ?
How is it connected to the shipmodul ?

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Hello,
the transducer is a airmar dst 800.
It is connected to a ITC5 which is connected to my seatalk ng.
I get depths and speed at the helm - but not on my pc with Shipmodul multiplexer / opencpn…..

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Opel..
Very good. The file is fine and I can use it in OCPN.

In the file are sentences for position, COG, SOG, heading, wind and AIS as you mentioned. Works fine also here.

But nothing for depth or water temp are included in the VDR record.
Depth sentences are: $xxDBT or $xxDPT
Water temp: $xxMTW or $xxXDR(ENV_WATER_T)
You may check if the Shipmodul multiplexer is supposed to transfer/convert the depth/temp sentences mentioned? Or if you can set it to do so.

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Thank you for checking - much appreciated....
I need to check it - but what I don't understand is, when I connect my Smartphone with Navionics boating App the depths are shown on the APP !!??
Of course I connect the Smartphone in the wifi network established from the shipmodul multiplexer

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

If your smartphone running the Navionics Boating App is connected via WiFi and is working correctly, the obvious question is how do you connect your OpenCPN PC to the ShipModul multiplexer?

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Opel..
You need to clear this out for us (and yourself?)

So how are your devices connected to each others?
All instrument including depth are on the Seatalk bus, correct?
If so Raymarine plotter will see everything on that bus. That's clear.
The Shipmodule is connected to Seatalk bus and by a serial-USB connection transfers to OCPN-PC, correct?
The Navionics app is connected to what?

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

All instrument including depth are on the Seatalk bus - that's correct.
In between I have a ITC 5, for wind/depths/temperature

The Shipmodule is connected to Seatalk bus and by a serial-USB connection transfers to OCPN-PC, correct?
No - not to a USB connection!!
I bought the shipmodul with inbuuld wifi.
So I run Open Cpn on my Laptop connected to shipmoduls wifi

The Navionics app is connected to what?
The Navionics App runs in the same Wifi and gets the depths / AIS from the shipmodul multiplexer

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

So the Smartphone which connect via WiFi receives everything while the PC which also connects via WiFi receives everything except depth or water temperature.

Assuming they are using the same settings (UDP, IP Address 0.0.0.0, Port 10110), this doesn't make much sense.

You haven't inadvertently added filters to your OpenCPN network connection?

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Opel..
OK, good.

So what's in the wifi stream not satisfying OCPN?

Test 1: Bad checksum? Try in OpenCPN Options-Connections; Your wifi connection.
Click to disable [ ]"Control checksum" -> click OK. Check Dashboard for depth data.
Not the solution?

Test 2: Again your wifi connection. You didn't happened to apply any "Input filtering" did you? The field shall be empty.

Test 3: Use "Putty" or another program to see what's on the wifi stream. Check for $xxDBT or $xxDPT and if there try to copy the stream and show here.

Edit: I didn't saw Steve's post before but we do agree.

Re: No data from Airmar transducer

Yes !!!
It’s working!!

The field inputfiltering was not empty - after clearing this field I got the depths and temperature in ocpn.

Thank you Stevead and Hakan for helping - I wouldn’t have found the solution ever…..

Opel..
Very good! Thanks for the report.
From the position in the VDR file I do understand the need of soundings.
