No Tide and Current Info

I am a new user of Opencpn 3.2 on a Mac. I have downloaded charts but when I push the tides button nothing shows up on the charts. Can anyone help with this? I think I might be downloading the charts wrong. I am getting the charts from NOAA as a zip file then opening the Zip file and putting all the files in a folder which I add to Charts on Opencpn.
Is there a simpler way to do this?

I am not a mac user. However, no matter the platform the tide symbols will display differently depending on zoom level. Try zooming in on an area with a high probability of having a tide station. Until you've seen the symbol at lower zoom levels once, they may be difficult to see. Hard to miss the changed symbol at higher zoom level.

Also, I know the tidal information displays with C-MAP charts. Not sure about the NOAA charts.

well, i can't even get the maps to down load. an error keeps coming up saying they can't be opened. i have a Mac also. any help would be appreciated!

Are you trying to install or open a chart inside OpenCPN?

Thanks. I actually started OpenCPN following my comment above and discovered this myself. Just neglected to say so.

Haven't received needed information from you.

Typically, this kind of message indicate a problem with permissions.

I once tried to help a friend resolve this issue on his mac running OS. Fixing permissions on the mac was not as straight forward as with a linux box although the same commands are used in OS as in linux.

Hopefully someone familiar with how to change permissions in OS will step up to help.

As Nohal said, tides and currents have nothing to do with charts.
Also the tides and currents informations have different sources at Linux and a Mac. At a Mac all data is bundled in the app and not at different places like Linux. So please do not point people into the wrong direction...

Don't care for your tone and innatention to detail, but I'm not here to fight.

I acknoweledged tide display has nothing to do with charts. See my reply to nohal.

I also told skippy where the file is located in linux - not in OS. Should be pretty clear to anyone reading my posts I am unfamiliar with O.S. and hoped someone familiar with changing permissions in OS would appear to help.

Your comments have certainly done nothing toward that end, have they?

A clarification is in order. This post should have been directed to 'ralphmacey', not skippy.

Oh, forgot to say I must be on skippy's ignore list too.

In order to not potentially lead anyone using a mac in the 'wrong direction' as CarCode so so aptly put it I'll not be making any attempt too help mac users in the future.

Besides, you couldn't pay me to own a mac.
