NOAH charts code names

Greetings,

Great program!

I have a newB question:

I downloaded the library from NOAH'S with descriptive names.
i/e Washington Port Townsend area''.
Once unzipped in CPM the folders name have 'code' names like US1EEZ2M.

Did I do something wrong?
How can I identify what folder is for which region?
Thx.
Alain

Re: NOAH charts code names

Just add all the folders to the chart folder list. The program will display them in their correct location.

Also, learn how to use the chart downloader. It automates all of this so you never have to unzip again.

Apparently he made charts for navigating that ark too!

Coyote, just joking! The charts are produced by "NOAA"...an acronym which is pronounced the same as the guy who built the ark.

Re: NOAH charts code names

About the S-57 chart numbering scheme for ENCs (Vector charts):

Your example:
US1EEZ2M

follows a format of:
PP U NNNNN. 000

telling us:
PP: ENC producer code (USA: US)
U : Code numbers for navigational purposes of ENCs, here "1"
NNNNN : Each country’s designated individual cell code (or chart number)
000 : ENC update numbers (first edition: 000, No.1 edition: 001)

Usage band:
1 Overview Chart ≤ 1,500,000
2 General Chart 350,000 ∼ 1,499,999
3 Coastal Chart 90,000 ∼ 349,999
4 Approach Chart 30,000 ∼ 89,999
5 Harbor Chart 7,500 ~ 29,999
6 Berthing Chart < 7,500
