Not saving Dashboard/tactics position

When closing OpenCPN 5.2, on reopen, the position of dashboard and tactics locked on RHS pane is not saved and have to reopen and position them. On another device install, the position is saved.


Any ideas what is cause and how to fix? I don`t want to delete the Opencpn.ini if do not have to.

I believe these settings are not saved in the ini. You can look and check.

One reason for your problem is if you close O incorrectly.
I have no idea what system etc you're on or how you go about closing down O when close a session.
I have no problem on Linux with the saved position.....normally. If I however just kill the session with, for example "xkill", there is no way O can save the settings.

The saved settings are in the con(ini) file. Look under the heading
[AUI] for "DASHT". But really no need to any editing!

Thanks I`ll have a look when I have access to that laptop again.



Am using windows 10 on all machines, try and use CTRL+Q to shut down.
My own laptop is fine, saves position, my mates does not.

I think Mattzilla has a very real point here.
After some tests I find that Dashboard position and window setup is saved in Dashboard, Dashboardtactics and Tactics, certainly in Windows OS.

I had the same issue with 5.2 on Ubuntu. Then it occurred to me that I had not disabled the original Dashboard and Tactics plugins. Once I disabled those plugins, the Dashboard+Tactics plugins panes correctly re-appear once OpenCPN is opened. I'm not 100% certain on the cause and effect here, but it's worth trying.

Good point codger. Additionally, the settings may have changed slightly between different version such as Dashboard and Dashboard_Tactics, in that case it is best to remove all the settings for dashboard and dashboard_tactics and reset all the settings.
