For one: I buy paper charts anyway (oldfashioned guy). NV delivers paper plus electronic, so why not.

I just updated to the new version of open CPN, but now I don't find the nv plugin in the plugin manager. When actualising the chart database, the program says the directory is empty, but it isn't. What to do now?

Same time ago there were Kap files of NV Verlag Charts. These work in OpenCPN.

As you can see here working in Opencpn version 5.8

Don't know the source of these these files. But in KAP format the NV charts work well.

But NV Verlag probably does not like to publish charts for OpenCPN.

The NV Charts plugin has not yet been added to the master catalog for OpenCPN 5.7.x(5.8.0). I am waiting for things to settle down before making any new releases of plugins I look after. It won't be long.

We have been in talks with NV in the past - always with positive reactions.

There are two aspects to deal with:
- Limited capacities and priorities on our OCPN side including o-charts

- chart material easily to integrate from NV side
NV is transitioning to vector charts based on the CARIS/Teledyne rendering and production engines.
Time limited charts and vanishing sets from subscription schemes are for us a no-go area.


In this moment I would not be to optimistic to see the actual NV vector chart sets in OpenCPN. Of course we would listen proactively to proposals.

Oh, my problem are not the ENC's. Until yesterday the NV-charts plugin worked properly with my NV Raster charts. When updating open cpn, the former plugins were deleted, and the nv-plugin is not included in the plugin-catalogue. The plugin is not to be loaded manually, only in a former version, according to the description it shoud be included in the plugin-manager, but it isn't. So my question is where can I get the latest NV-plugin?

And the answer is you can't download it anywhere as it does not exist. Until Rasbats prepares the O5.8 compatible release. Then it will appear in the plugin manager as all the other plugins.

Okay, thank you, that helps so far. I like the NV raster charts for the Adriatic, especially for planning, because they are the same as the paper version and have a lot of information for small boats which one won't find in the o-charts that way. During sailing I mostly use the ENC o-charts.

Unfortunately I had a problem last year on a "new" PC, an old Lenovo thinkcentre. OpenCPN works great, but de NV-charts do not load onto the dataset. I compared all the settings I could imagine with my old laptop where the NV-charts are perfectly visible. But I can't find what's wrong, or different.

Does anybody have a suggestion what might be wrong?

Just tested with the sample and the charts showed fine on OpenCPN 5.8.4.

Have you installed the charts from NV Verlag again? This is needed to install a file on your new PC, that unlocks the charts.

Are these the digital charts you get as part of the purchase of NV printed charts? Can you use the one year subscription from NV that is meant for their APP or on the web version of their navigation program?

I think you need an activation code which you will not have with the subscription service. NV Charts provide good support. Suggest contacting them directly.

On both devices it runs on 5.8.4. I will try downloading charts on de mini-PC instead of copying the dll-s.
