O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

I've recently installed OpenCPN (v5.8.4-0) and installed the O-Charts (v2.0.0.58) plugin direct from the plugin manager. Following that I purchased a chart set from the O-Charts website and went to install in OpenCPN it via the O-Charts sub-tab under the main Charts tab.

When I click the 'Refresh Chart List' button it requests my O-Charts login details , correctly lists the chart I purchased but then displays the message "ERROR Creating Fingerprint file. Check OpenCPN log file. {USB Dongle not found.}". Following clicking OK to that message box, there's a popup asking to enter a new system name which I enter and press OK. The same "ERROR Creating Fingerprint file" message appears again which once I select OK nothing else happens.

I can then click the charts I wish to install and click the button 'Install Selected Chart for'. The enter system name popup appears again which I enter a system name (same as previously) and click OK. The status changes to 'Preparing installation' with the 'Error creating fingerprint' message appearing again. On click OK the system hangs there indefinitely.

I've tried re-installing and re-booting but to no avail.

Below are the events logged in the OpenCPN log file.....

Re: O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

In case you are running any virus checker but the onboard MS Defender, try again disabling it.

Re: O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

Thanks for the reply. I've disabled MS Defender but still get the same issue.

I've uploaded the OpenCPN log file if that would help.

Re: O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

Tux...
You may try this:
1. Open a cmd shell in Windows.
2. Execute the following:

Code:
"C:\Users\KDS\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\oexserverd.exe" -g "C:\ProgramData\opencpn/"
Please report results.
Thanks
Dave

Re: O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

I previously tried running the command in the cmd window with what appeared to be no success. When the command was run nothing was reported in the cmd window, only going to the cmd prompt waiting for a new input. I checked the two paths in the cmd for an fpr file but couldn’t locate a file. I’ve also ensured hidden files are shown.

Thanks

Re: O-Charts Creating Fingerprint File

This problem has been solved via fantastic direct support from O-Charts. The issue was me trying to use the PC via remote desktop. When running in this configuration the O-Charts plugin doesn't recognise the local PC. To overcome this I used a VNC connection however this could have also been achieved by logging in local on the PC. O-Charts confirmed, and I've also tested now, that the PC and O-Charts can be used via remote desktop once the charts have been installed.
