o-charts display issue (Netherlands Belgium 2023)

Since installing the 2023 version for Netherlands Belgium 2023 charts on OpenCPN 5.6.2 (o-charts plugin 1.0.34.0) there is an issue with the charts display: see attached.

Reinstalling charts, updating chartslist, ... etc does not help.

What is wrong?

Erik,

that looks like an issue with the graphics drivers of your system. Perhaps surfacing with the chart set, but the set shall be ok.

Can you try to upgrade to OpenCPN 5.8.2 and the corresponding o-charts plug-in 2.0.x?
You might want to install in parallel just in case.

Good morning Hubert,

why would upgrading to 5.8.2 solve a graphics card issue on my pc?

And the graphics card on my pc is a high end card. But if any sort of upgrade on that driver would help then please by all means.

What is a "parallel" installation and howx to perform?

Re: o-charts display issue (Netherlands Belgium 2023)

5.8.x has made some improvements when dealing with OpenGL. This might help not to avoid the issues you observe.

You are on a Windows system as I see from the screen shot:
when installing OpenCPN you are being asked if you want to upgrade or if you want to install in parallel ("advanced user.."). Here select the option to maintain the existing settings. You will have then two OpenCPN icons on the desktop for the two installs to play with.

In any case you might also search for an updated driver for your graphics. One of the first lines of the OpenCPN log will tell us what type of graphic card or integrated graphics are in use.

Re: o-charts display issue (Netherlands Belgium 2023)

Hi bcn, I did install just now a parallel version 5.8.2 and the issue looks solved.
I however did select the option to install new settings: how does that affect my situation?

Where do I find the log for the other version? I would like to upload it so you can have a look at the graphics driver aspect?

And another question: I also have a Rpi with version 5.6 (with dongle): if I upgrade the Rpi will I have to reinstall the connections?
