o-charts / oeSENC large cache files purge?

I purchased Pacific Canada charts from https://o-charts.org and all works well. I've got one set installed on a RPi (OpenPlotter) instance, and one on a Mac with OpenCPN version 5.8.4-0

On the Mac, for example, I'm seeing the ~/Library/Preferences/opencpn directory at 2.6GB in size. Closer inspection shows that most of this is within ~/Library/Preferences/opencpn/o_charts_pi (1.4GB) and ~/Library/Preferences/opencpn/SENC (1.2GB) directories.

Similarly, on the RPi I see ~/.opencpn/o_charts_pi (1.1GB) and ~/.opencpn/SENC (375MB) directories.

There is still the actual oeuSENC-CApc directory (1.1GB) being referenced from OpenCPN with the actual chart files.

Is there an automated way to purge, what I suspect are cache directories (o_charts_pi & SENC)?
If not, can I just delete the directories manually to reclaim 2.6GB in space?
Is there any impact on chart updates?

Sub-issue, I have a set of recently expired Pacific Canada charts which are no longer eligible for updates. I'll be purchasing another 1-year subscription. Any impact from removing these large cache (?) files?

The cache files are only used for download and as the source to install the oesu (and former oernc or oesenc) sets.
Once installed successfully, you can purge the cache to release the space.


With broken downloads (invalid zip files) one will need to purge the cache in order to prevent to use the failing content again.


At this moment there is no option to do this from the user interface.


Don't delete the folders from the charts list at Options|Charts. Those are actively used.
