o-charts plugin bug?

OpenCPN version 5.8.3 flatpak on linux.

I signed up with o-charts.org so I could get some Canadian (Pacific coast) charts.

As is my wont when allowed, I signed up with an email sub-address (like user+sub@domain -- works on most email providers, including gmail.com). That address was accepted and I purchased charts. Then I went to my OpenCPN, enabled the o-charts plugin, and selected "Refresh Chart List". It pops up the login window, I entered the credentials that I created the account with (I can successfully login to o-charts.org with them), and OpenCPN gives me an "invalid username" error (see attached screenshot). If I make any changes to the email address, I get "user does not exist" error.

So, It is a bug in the o-charts plugin that it does not accept the same format of email address that o-charts.org page allows you to create. I'm rather stuck right now, unable to access the charts I paid for.

My recent rant is how many web apps don't allow valid email addresses that include the "+" sign indicating a sub-address (great for filtering, or to find out who sold my email address to some spammer!)

Re: o-charts plugin bug?

Your o-charts plug-in is 2.0.6?

And yes, the plug-in will not digest sometimes some special characters.

The "+" in the e-mail is new hick-up, as far as we do remember.

Think that it has to live not just in your environment but in all of the combinations of OS, platform plus languages.
Different from a browser environment your are using when accessing the shop.

Proposal: Modify your e-mail account at the shop, reset the credentials within the plug-in preferences and then please try again.

Re: o-charts plugin bug?

For some definition of "recent": the "+" option in email addresses predates gmail.
It is still a bug in the plugin. I guess I never really retire from software QA...

Most web apps have a way to change email address, I just need to find it.

Re: o-charts plugin bug?

Sure - 2019 it was working correctly. We have some older examples.
This is already on the tick list now, however don't expect a solution for tomorrow, being right in the beta phase of OCPN 5.9/5.10

Changing your account settings: log into your account at the o-charts shop where you will be able to update all your details. Including the e-mail. We do see your "...+...@..." account in the shop.
