That would be an ideal solution. Temporarily, Bdbcat made a small amount of code to check the size of the screen and if it is high res, then just use the normal cursor.

Do you want me to find that code in OpenCPN?

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Do all the Draw cursors have the issue or is it only the pencil one?

Why not have an Icon scale of your own? Which affects both your toolbar and the waypoints!

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

There is a new version of OD , 1.8.14.4, where I have attempted to scale the pencil cursor. I don't have a 4K screen to test with, the best I can do is 2560x1600. So can you test it on a 4K screen.
You will find the files here:
https://cloudsmith.io/~opencpn/repos...1.8.14.4*msvc*
I am assuming you are using windows 10.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

It looks like a plugin cannot get to the information that is available to OCPN, i.e. the screen size in pixels, it can only get it in mm. Also, there is a limitation in wxWidgets for msw of 32x32 cursor size. Dave mentions this and is using a hack to approximate a solution. To change this would require a new API function call to return the screen size, this may require an API 1.18 addition.

Create Boundary - Pencil Problem
Create Boundary Point - Has a red + that can be seen, but should be bigger.
Create Text Point - Has a standard white arrow cursor which is the right size.
Create EBL - Has a red + that can be seen, but should be bigger. also a Yellow info box
Create DR - Has a red + that can be seen, but should be bigger.
Create Guard Zone - Pencil Problem, but has a big yellow info box too.

Had and idea for making the DR better. Allow selection of angle by using the cursor, by having an option checkbox.

Jon, this one is crashing OpenCPN when I try to install it.
Now I have tried two different downloads of it and it seems to be working, but we'd better be sure about this. Maybe it was a bad download, maybe not. Is this really what you want? (Sorry, that's wrong, I was thinking of Preferences!!)

Anyway, it appears you've rearranged the menus a little, removing some of the tabs and making us select an object in the list and then hit Properties? Some of the Property screens seem to be taking up more space than needed. See attachments below for example.

The pencil seems to be the same size.

Problem: I am stuck on DR and I can't get out of it. I've closed the plugin and reopened from toolbar, that doesnt fix it. I then unenabled the plugin and it crashed.

Problem: The upper right Draw Object Menu red X does not seem to work.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon, I just had to downgrade to 1.8.14.0 and that one has smaller Drawing Create Objects Icons, so it has gotten better and is tolerable. That problem can be considered fixed for the time being until there is a better way.

Should we make an API improvement request?

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

I just moved from using my compile version of O v5.6.1 back to O v5.6.0 and testing the Ocpn_Draw version 1.8.14.4

There are a couple of anonylies.
1. After creating a DR, I cannot change to creating an EBL, it is stuck.

Then after I close OCPN Draw Toolbar and reopen, I can change to another object.
2. After creating a TEXT, I seem to be stuck in that object and can't get out even after closing the Draw Toolbar. So I try un-enabling the Plugin and Apply and I get this screen with the Draw toolbar still showing and the O-draw Icons still in the toolbar.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

When I click on the Toolbar Hamburger to shorten it, it shortens up to Ocpn Draw Toolbar Icons, rather than showing just the hamberger, and then when I open it to rewrite the screen Opencpn crashes.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

I am not sure what is going on, but on OCPN 5.2.4 works fine. It looks like there is something strange with the way that plugin manager is now working. I have raised an issue about android OCPN crashing within OCPN when displaying the setting/plugins tab, but there is not much movement on that. I cannot debug the android crash as I cannot build OCPN for android and as far as I can tell OD is working as it should.

I have applied the hack that is in OCPN to OD for cursors and only for windows. There is a problem with windows and wxwidgets with cursors and it looks like the widgets people are working on it, but not sure when/if that fix will become available.

I am trying to get a virtual machine with 4k resolution running to do some testing, but at the moment no luck.

I am not sure anyone is looking at issues with plugin manager and I am not sure who should be.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

I have tried on msw to recreate the issues with using OD you are having and cannot do so. DR, TextPoints, Boundaries and EBL all work as expected. I can only use a display of 2560x1600 so am not doing 4K displays.

I am not saying there is not an issue, just I cannot create what you are seeing. I am using the beta version of OCPN 5.6.1.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon,

I found a scenario where OD would crash OpenCPN on exit on O5.6 on Mac running Catalina. I mentioned it here: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...it-262356.html

What version of OD is causing the crash?

1.8.14.0 - I believe the most current in the master PI catalog.
