Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hello JonGough,

I tested yesterday and today a version of DR transmitted by Did-g. There is a button "S57 quilt to layer".
Yesterday, I told myself "it's **** ....". Did-g explained to me. Today, I did other tests. Tonight, I saw the task I had opened in January on this subject.

Finally, I think the idea is not that bad. By cons the item is incomprehensible. What is the word "Layer" doing here? And "S57" ?

Why not "Define the calculation area" = "define compute area"? Or, shorter "Area of calculation" = "Compute area" ?

Gilletarom.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi Rick,
Can we move the DR changes to the OD 1.5 beta stream where I am also working on importing CSV files of boundaries etc.? I think that the DR stuff may be a bit more convoluted than a simple change or two.

I am trying to get my head around some of your requests. I get the moving the end point and rotating, extending the DR, but it does raise questions about do the initial settings apply except for the changed angle (i.e. DR Points are added/deleted when the line is extended/shortened) or do all the settings change except the number of points in the DR? If you think about it some of the changes you are requesting will have similar type questions that need to be addressed.

I think you are asking for:
  • Rotate the whole DR
  • Extend the DR length
  • Reset the DR to initial state
  • Move individual DR points but maintain 'most' initial settings
  • Rebase DR, similar to moving an EBL start point
I also think you are asking for a general 'undo' function so that if, for example, you delete an OD object you and undelete it. I disabled all that code when I build OD as it did not seem to work very well. Again this can be looked at in OD 1.5 beta.

Regards
Jon

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Can we move the DR changes to the OD 1.5 beta stream -- of course!

I think you are asking for:
  • Rotate the whole DR -yes
  • Extend the DR length - yes
  • Reset the DR to initial state -yes, if no conflicts.
  • Move individual DR points but maintain 'most' initial settings, yes, if no conflicts.
  • Rebase DR, similar to moving an EBL start point, yes.
This way someone could establish a DR, mess with it and learn, then decide to redo it by select "DR Stretch" where upon, it assumes the initial settings and the user can place the end point in an entirely different spot. Any individual point changes from before will be lost.

I think you've got it.

Gilletarom.
I reinstalled a downloaded rather than compiled Openpn v4.8.2 and ocpn_draw 1.4.69-win32.ex works from my compilation.

Then I checked the github release here
https://github.com/rgleason/ocpn_dra...es/tag/v1.4.69

and found I had not upload the executable file. Please try again Gille.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hello JonGough,

I do not understand this item:

"Delete current OCPN_Draw entries (No)"

I tried to make it work but without observing any change... help.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi Gilletarom,
That setting is to allow you to delete ALL the settings associated with OD when you close OCPN. There was a discussion a little while ago about how to clean out completely the settings in opencpn.ini/conf, this was a quick way of doing that. The next time you start OCPN with the OD plugin you will get all the defaults that are current.

Regards
Jon

Thanks.

There will be more than one user who will be surprised at the result if he does a random test.

If a help message was displayed when hovering over the item or the YES / NO button, that would be fine.
