Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

Dave,

I am setting off on a trip early tomorrow. I'll make some checks but it might take a few days before I can get back to you. If I can't get a good internet connection it might be a couple of weeks.

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

Dave,
After several days behaving itself I have had a couple of .conf failures. O does not provide a message about missing file but prompts for chat directories as if it is a new installation. If I immediately close down then I find that there is a .conf file but it has zero size.

I was trying to check every time the file status before starting O but didn't on these occasions.

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

Stuart, Are you pretty sure there are no power continuity issues in your setup? I've never seen the config file get wiped out, but perhaps bdbcat has...

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

I have a gut feeling that power is the root problem but at the time this happend my batteries were full. The only possible culprit is a connection between male usb plug and female socket in the supply to the pi which runs O.
I'll try taping that joint firmly together. The other dodgy joint is in the serial plug to the usb/serial converter on the input to the multiplexer but I can't see how that would affect the O program. I have ordered a gadgetpool converter with usb plug to avoid this joint problem.
I'll keep monitoring.

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

In addition to the above, the RPi has not closed because of a power glitch during these incidents

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

Stuart, I added your writeup here
Install on RPI & CubieT | Official OpenCPN Homepage

I intended to put it here

Low Power Devices | Official OpenCPN Homepage

but either will do probably. If you have wifi and a login to the OpenCPN.org website you can edit this page. See the Developer Manual - Editing the User Manual
Edit the User Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage

You can also upload photos less than res 800 x

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

I am having the same issue of no autopilot data being sent over the wifi network.
I have openplotter on a pi3. Not sure of the config settings.
All i have done so far is to set a tcp connection in opencpn to losten on localhost port 10110.
I clicked on the "send autopilot data" button and expected autopilot data to apear in the access point nmea strings. I found this thread whilst looking for setup help...it seems to have stopped. Does anyone know the final fix?

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

Resolved.
Create a new network connection.
Set to UDP
Disable input on this port.
Enable output on this port
Set ip address to "Localhost"
Set port to 10110
Set talker id to "EC"
Click apply and then okay
Close window and restart.

To test, right click on chart and set "go to here"

Data is now to be seen.
I only have a GPS module in this for testing on the bench and it still worked okay.

Tacmed
You've obviously found your solution but for whats its worth my AP output solution involved some tinkering with kplex
Here is the thread from the OpenPlotter support forum. it worked for me
Cant get autopilot data out

Re: OPCPN not outputing autopilot sentences

The link goes to a twitter account and not the openplotter forum.

Strange. I just clicked on my link and it went straight to the right forum post. I don't have a twitter a/c

Anyway suggest you go to the forum OpenMarine
and navigate to the thread in the "How do I section"
