MAPMEDIA CHARTS

You will all know that the CNF SeaSoft web site has a wide range of charts available for download ie CM93 ed2 and ed 3 together with a large number of Mapmedia charts covering most of the world. This together with instructions on how to open them.

The Mapmedia charts have a conversion utility which enables them to be viewed in MAXSEA ver 10, 11 and 12.

The CM93 charts are protected by copyright as is the Mapmedia charts but every-man and his dog ignores the CM93 copyright issues and all yachties use them.

Now to the question - does anyone have a utility / patcher similar to the one used for Maxsea which can enable the Mapmedia charts to be opened in OpenCPN - Or can anyone out there write such a utility ?????

re #166 the CNF site is useless. It asks for entry of symbols which are not displayed.

CNF website

I have just checked on the CNF website and was connected without any difficulty. Also tried downloading a chart - again was connected and download started.

So cannot understand your comment - may I suggest you try CNF.SeaSoft

Re: Open Chart Standard

Hi E-Man

Not able to help with the Mapmedia *.DBR or *.DBV unlocker but do have an unlocker for the Mapmedia *.MAP raster charts but it only works on Maxsea software version 10 plus. Lots of charts available though for this format.

If you have any success please post again as I am also interested.

Does anyone know how to get the Mapmedia *.MAP charts to open in OpenCPN ????

Re: Open Chart Standard

Hmm this looks all too hard - admittedly I haven't tried to read all this but I see things about having a *nix installation and compiling various utilities etc...

If anyone wouldn't mind helping me to convert these HDR files of Australian charts to something I can use in OziExplorer please send me a PM! If its a lot of work and I'm asking too much please let me know...

Hi,djambalawa.
It's been awhile, since I've been into my hdr's But"Additional files can be downloaded from the Optional_Extras
link on the OziExplorer web page."
I've got a ton of these ol maptechs...
You need "OziPCX.dll".And you should be able to see em in Ozi,if your version is not too old...The unregisted version of ozi lets you see them but not navigate with gps on them.

Re: Open Chart Standard

for conversions... it works well enough (my opinion)to make these tiled charts into Raster charts ...oh,likely not perfect matching waypoints and marks, but I couldn't see it

MIGHT help.it all goes better than you'd think, once tested a few times. The capturing is the hard part.Only snagit works.

I've been having success in this area as well:
Huge HDR files during conversions - Cruisers & Sailing Forums
but go aground at step 4:
The HDR file grows to > 16 GIGAbytes, so I'm doing something wrong...
