Re: open cpn

Which ones? For which region or waters?

Check the OpenCPN manual for more ideas:

Re: open cpn

Look at o-charts.org
That's the dedicated chart outlet of OpenCPN for OpenCPN. Licensed charts.

For your waters expect Cuba, Mexico and Panama Canal added soon. Greece will become available as vector charts - Imray raster are already present. Same for Malta.

Sailormet, you can also make your own charts, but it takes time & internet bandwidth. The good news is that the tools & data are free, & the quality of the charts is better than anything you could buy.

We use SAS Planet to provide the data, & Sat2Chart to drive SAS & automate the whole process. SAS gives us access to Navionics & CMap nautical charts, as well as superb satellite imagery from ArcGIS, Bing, Google, Nokia, & more. The satellite imagery is unbelievably accurate, with max errors on the order of 3m. You have to see it to believe it. The nautical charts are not as accurate, of course, but they have depths.

We provide a detailed How-To guide to Making mbTiles. That page also provides a link to the CM93 charts, which aren't very good, but they're a starting place, & they cover the whole world. I've tried to write it so even novices can use it, so if you have questions, let me know.
