Open CPN Duplicate Waypoints

Hi, understand why Open CPN will not allow duplicate waypoints, however I have a list of waypoints in a persistent layer which is hidden and the program will still not open duplicates in the normal layer/level. I generate these waypoints outside of open CPN so some times names are duplicated and it would be nice to allow duplicates on the normal layer if they exist in an other layer. I found I can create a temporary layer for the new duplicates and that is OK. It would be good if didn't need to create a new layer to do that, if they are in other layers. If they are in a temporary layer you can't rename them so they can exist in the normal layer.
Your thoughts please.
