Open CPN - failed to open / initialize

Hello - Has anyone gotten this error message before? I went to open it this morning I got this message: 'failed to initialize the user interface. open cpn cannot start. the necessary configuration files were not found.'

I can't get it to open. I've only tried deleting the application and downloading another. I'm running it on a MacBook (OS 10.13.16)

How did you install? Are you using version 5.2 and the new installer for macOS?

Can you attach the log file? You find it using the about ("?") button from the tool bar.
Change the name to opencpn.log.doc in order to overcome size restrictions in case.

Unfortunately, it won't open at all - so I can't get to the toolbar.

Also - This is the very first error message that shows up... then it goes away, and leave's the initialization error message.

BCN: If the program won't open he can't get to the help screen that identifies the location of the log file.

and we see there as user "/admin".
Srboat, are you running OCPN as admin or from a second user account?

I'm using it as the Admin, yes.

Thanks. When I follow the file path setup above, it looks like the log is missing... and/or the Library file is in the wrong place... here are some screen shots

Is this the first install of OpenCPN on this machine or an update? If update: parallel install or update of existing?

Yes - I can't see the config file...

This is the first install - but I've since tried deleting the application all together and re-downloading & installing with the same error message
