jpiebrig....

Is the problem with just the one chart you have found, or with any small scale chart? What chart scale causes the problem? Perhaps you could send me by email the problem chart(s) for analysis.

On the question of COG: I see by the attached image link that the SOG is 91 knots... How can this be? And the latest COG form GPS is 353 degrees, which seems to match the drawn ship. What type/source of GPS data are you using? Are you using some type of simulator?

Thanks
Dave

Dave..

Could you PLEASE make the text in the Queery box 'copyable' ? Very tedious having to bring up Notepad and TYPE in the ships MMSI number when the name is not shown and you wish to check details in a vessel directory via the MMSI number. I have a bad memory and just can't keep the number in mind until I reach the vessel directory.

Here is a useful link to get ship info etc.

Using Linux I'm able to copy the whole content of the query box to "Klipper" - the KDE clip board. It doesn't quite work to just copy parts of the query box.

Moving further east the CM93 charts show up fine in the whole Eastern Hemisphere, but as soon as the middle of my screen passes the dateline, all CM93 chart outlines disappears.
Bsb- and ENC- chart outlines works just fine, only a cm93 problem.

Here's a mock-up of how it might look.

New icon SVGs are here: opencpn_icons.zip
in the src/bitmaps/other_svg_src directory if anyone wants to play. (Use Inkscape)

Beat Build 903

Beta build 903 is available, with CVS.

Changelog:
57. Correct fault in Route creation near existing waypoint.
58. Correct fault in Delete All Routes with any route active.
59. Correct Route Console annunciator box sizes
60. Improved NMEA debugging
---------Publish Beta 1.3.3 Build 903---------

For LeaseOnLife:

Dirk:
I have added some more NMEA debug stuff to figure out your issue.

1. Please add the following to config file, [Settings] section

DebugNMEA=500
GPSDogTimeout=30

I have implemented configurable NMEA Watchdog value. 30 seconds surely should be enough.
the "500" means stop NMEA logging after 500 messages have been received.

Check the logfile output.

As a second experiment, you can try using only one NMEA port. Bring the mux'ed, 38KB data into one port.
Set that port in the Toolbox->AIS tab. Set the main NMEA input port to "AIS Port (Shared)"

Hope some of this helps us find out where the HDM message is going.....

Cagney: I too have seen CM93 outlines come and go. Fixed a small typo bug, maybe that's it?

Thanks all for your input, as usual. Real close, now.....

hm, my AIS receiver does not reach so far and looking out of my window I am sitting on land, so I asume it is just a +/- error that slipped in somehow unnoticed.

When I read your message: "new version", the former one was on, showing correct position, closed it, installed the new one and my boat jumped from 120E to 120W ;-)

You are right. +/- problem slipped in. You really have not moved so far....

I'll have another Beta tomorrow, after we accumulate more bugs with this one.

Dave, no problem to sent you the charts, but I don't know where.

I have only two charts to send you with this problem, all the others I get are "detail" charts.
For one the chart's scale is 1 : 22 000 000, cannot find for the other one. But if you ask for the truescale, yes, more the scale is big, more the problem is important.

My Garmin GPS 126 has a function of simulation and I can put any original position, speed, track or other data and so I pilot the boat to my way.

In this example, NMEA source was GPSD Network and the boat was making route to the 275/280 ° and had kept the display of the previous leg and the COG 353° you can see was not the one that the boat was following in reality. On the GPS it was 275/280°.
I'll try some tests with the other NMEA source, /dev/ttyx, and i tell you if I have the same problem.

And for the speed, it is the only way to go very fast with my sailboat...

HDM debug

Dave,

I set NMEA source = AIS source.

With your new logging I learned my HDM sentences are being sent only every 2 sec.
Setting GPSDogTimeout to 10, gives a reliable heading on the screen but this only masks the problem, a GPSDogTimeout of 3 sec should be enough.

In the log, I believe, I should see for every "AIS.NMEA Sentence received" a corresponding "MEH.NMEA Sentence received", at least for the messages used by opencpn. And it usually shows a corresponding MEH,NMEA... for the HDM sentence, it usually looks like this:
05:56:26: AIS.NMEA Sentence received...$IIHDM,041,M*39
05:56:26: MEH.NMEA Sentence received...$IIHDM,041,M*39

But sometimes it misses it, then the timeout promptly hits:

Manimaul...

Don't particulary like the shape of your ship icon. Could it not be a more realistic and proportionally correct shape like this:

sinbad7, I am with you regarding style,

I am with Dave too, not to go to far away from standard symbols, but the OWN pride, eh, ship, should be a little more stylish.

I am still thinking of a few different shapes, as my cat is 7.4m wide it could be helpfull in a few large scale charts where the GPS receiver sits and to display the boat in correct scale
