Go to the Opencpn install folder, should be C:\Program Files\OpenCPN or similar.
Right click on the opencpn.exe file and select "Run as Administrator". Say Yes to the following UAC popup.
UAC deactivated yesterday after the insallation of win7. I hate when it pops up every time i try to install smthng.

Man... I'm stumped. And you have no trouble installing other applications?

Anything else you've fiddled with since installing W7?

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 don't want to start

Untill now no problems...
I have a couple of ideas: can try to run in compatibility mode with some other version of windows, or try to install ubuntu and hope it will work.
What do you think if I try to install some older version of opencpn? Any reccomendation?
Anyway, thanks a lot for quick answers and hard trying.

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 don't want to start

Let's try another tack....
USB stick...you said earlier. Have you, by any chance a portable directory somewhere? That could lead to weird things......
I suggest...
Restart the box. Un-install OpenCPN if possible.
Make sure that the box, Hide SystemFiles, or similar, is not ticked.
Delete all that remains of opencpn. Look at all the obvious places. Use "search" to find everything.
Then reinstall......

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 don't want to start

Thomas, exept a wireless mouse and a bluetooth stick nothing else is attached to the laptop right now. For unninstalling apps I use YourUnninstaller (delete everything from win registry after unninstalling smthng).
I'm gonna unninstall opencpn, and search for any possible trail of it to be sure that everything is clean. Redownload the installation again and reinstall it in safe mode, maybe that will make some difference...
See you in few minutes...

Try running without the wireless and bluetooth things too.

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 don't want to start

...and then, if still no go, please download the file below and replace the opencpn.exe in c:\program files\OpenCPN with it. It is a 3.0.2 zipped opencpn.exe with extensive logging of the startup process thrown in, should get us closer to the problem...

Before running the exe from the post above, empty opencpn.log, when paste the content of the log here after running it.

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 don't want to start

After a lot of hard working and trying, Jesper found the source of the problem. It was smthng wrong with the location settings in win7 that was preventing the program to run normally. Now it works just perfect. Thank you one more time!

The system locale was not supported by wxW. A fix for this has been pushed to master.

Makes sense.

"System default language", was the first line missing in the log file...
