Opencpn 5.0.0 Chart pan & zoom failure

I have installed Opencpn 5.0.0 on a Windows 10 PC at home and on two identical mini PCs for boat use. One runs Ubuntu 18.04 and the other one Elementary OS Juno, which is Ubuntu 18.04 based. The version on the Ubuntu PC was installed as explained later and works perfectly, but the one on Elementary will not pan or zoom the charts either by mouse movement or by clicking the movement arrows or the zoom buttons. It was installed using the Terminal commands as follows:
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppapencpn/opencpn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install opencpn
An earlier version (4.8?) worked fine on Elementary Loki before the drive was formatted to install Elementary Juno and Opencpn version 5 installed.

The only differences between the Opencpn 5.0.0 istallations that I can see between Ubuntu and Elementary is that In Ubuntu, after installing the ppa repository and updating, the actual software installation was a bit different with some sort of GUI involved, though I cannot now remember exactly what it was.

Has anyone else found a problem in panning or zooming charts, or know a solution? Without the ability to move around the charts the program is useless and will have to be uninstalled.

Use [CODE] brackets to avoid the smileys. Syntax is the same as the QUOTE brackets.
