Try to switch on/off OpenGL and Quilting in different conditions and always check the settings. Surprising results of a severe bug.

Now running OpenCPN 5.6.0 (flatpak) on the RaspiOS Bullseye version and on the Ubuntu Impish version. Both with the Oesenc plugin and the Oesenc Charts. All on the RPI 2 Gb. Not only from SD, but also from USB stick 3.1 and SDD.

Ubuntu has just started with a new release called Jammy Jellyfish. This will become the LTS version. Is allready available for the 64 bits RPI's

It seems to be alpha with not all the items working.

Tried this version and can report that OpenCPN 5.6.0 and the 5.6.0 flatpak version with the Oesenc plugin works very well. Also the SignalK server is running.

Kernel version is 5.13.0.

But is early days for this new version.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

Still no luck in installing oeSENC plugin on Ubuntu 20.04 running on an Odroid C4. I get the message that oeSENC plugin 4.2 is unstable and will not be loaded but I can't see an alternative and this means I cannot use my maps. So is this a bug ?.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

georgetina..
oeSENC version 4.2... is obsolete. That's correct. Could it be you try to install by the old method?
From some OCPN versions back you've to use the inbound pluginmanager.
Options->Plugins-> click: "Update plugin catalog master". When succeed scroll to find oeSENC. Select it and install version 4.3....

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

Thanks for trying to help. I have tried update catalog which seems to work giving a positive message but thats all - I don't get a list to scroll. The only plugins installed are the default ones. Selecting import plugings takes me to my home directory and request I select a tarball file but there is no tarball file shown. I have looked in most (all) directories but can't find tar files. So no download/import seems to have occured. Next move?

Which PPA are you using?
For Arm32 bit have a look here:

Aha. I missed the key point: "running on an Odroid C4".
Please do, from command line:

$ cat /etc/os-release

$ uname -a

Please post results here.

Thanks
Dave

georgetina...

We presently do not support plugins on arm64 systems natively.
Your best solution is to use flatpak for OpenCPN, for which most plugins are available now.

Good Luck

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

Are you likely to support the Odroid C4 arm64 in the near future as to use flatpak I will have to replace all my map licences. Perhaps I should revert to 5.2.4 which worked OK. How might I do this ?

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

Why do you think the OCPN flatpack will break the licenses? Should not be the case.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

Tried Flatpak and as well as a performance hit it does demand new licences.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.0 Released

OpenCPN 5.6.0 has been accepted into Debian sid. It will be available shortly using regular apt, gnome-software etc.

The Debian version is 5.6.0+dfsg1-1.

I will start the process to make it available in at least bullseye, perhaps also buster, using the backports or experimental channels. Never done this before, no idea if it's feasible or how long time it could take.
