opencpn 5.6.2 flatpak RPi4 Radar will not install

so i have downloaded the latest 64OS for RPi 4, installed flatpak, installed opencepn 5.6.2, went to options/Plugins, updataed the master catalog, found the Radar plugin, installed radar 5.3.3,checked the box for radar enable, hit apply, hit ok. Radar does not show up on the tool bar and if I restart opencpn, radar does not show up as being installed. I have a Garmin xHD 18" radar that works under an earlier version of opencpn.

Can someone point out the errors of my way?

kind regards
David

So what does it say on the plug-ins page in settings? Is it ‘enabled’?

yes it is enabled - both boxes are checked, but it still does not show up in the dashboard. If I exit opencpn and restart it, the enabled box is not checked!
Thanks,
David

Although I have no radar. I also tried the Radar plugin. Can be installed in the OpenCPN flatpak version. Can be set set to on. RaspiOS64 Bullseye.

But the settings (voorkeuren) does not work. Reinstalling the plugin gives no improvement.

And of course there is no Icon in the left piano list, when settings are not available.

Bram

Now tried the Radar settings also in the OpenCPN flatpak in the Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish. Installed well and plugin set to on.

Now the settings appear, but give no reaction when clicked on.

RPI4 2 GB OpenGL on. RaspiOS64 Bullseye and Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish for the RPI.

Re: opencpn 5.6.2 flatpak RPi4 Radar will not install

So this seems to be a bug! I have tried to follow the instructions for reporting it as a bug, but have not been able to report it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to report a bug?
Thanks,
David

Create an issue for the bug you found.

Here, I fixed it for you: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/issues/199

It seems to be a packaging issue for the radar_pi flatpak build that slipped through.

As you are using a Garmin HD for which we didn't fix anything, you can also just import the 5.2 version explicitly. See the above link for instructions.

Re: opencpn 5.6.2 flatpak RPi4 Radar will not install

On a Raspberry Pi 4b, I have installed the latest version of openPlotter which contains the latest version of bullseye 64 bit and openCpn. All good.

Now , I'm trying to install the latest version of the radar plugin (5.3.3) and I need help. First of all, I go to the openCpn downloads page and it says " Linux No download needed, install package opencpn-plugin-radar". So Could some one explain exactly what that means and the steps I should go through? I tried the openCpn import catalog update and then import; that didn't work. I found a flatpack version and tried that method, didn't work, though I think that's through ignorance.

So, can someone tell me away to import the radar plugin 5.3.3 in a step-by-step using the latest openPlotter software. Or anything else.

Upgrade the catalog, this includes radar plug-in 5.3.4 which fixed the flatpak x86_64 build. See the link above.

Maybe you don’t realize how plugins are handled in newer O releases? Open settings. Scroll to the bottom of the plug-in tab. This is where you will find an ‘update catalog’ button.

This requires an internet connection.

Re: opencpn 5.6.2 flatpak RPi4 Radar will not install

I certainly don't understand how the radar plugin is handled for the raspberry pi, for sure. Though I do have an internet connection, or so it says on the upper right hand status. In fact, it indicates that there are several internet streams. Also, as instructed I installed the 64 bit OS version

In raspberry pi:
1. I open the options page and go to plugins,

2. Select "update plugin catalog: master".

3. Then I scroll through the list of plugins available, not finding radar at all. I do find AIS radar and installed it and enabled it.

4. I go to the "Import plugin" button and it opens a page with folders on the left, looking for .tar.gz files.
5. I go to download and find the file: "radar-5.3.3+1803.c96-9597-flatpack-20.08-aarch64.tar.gz".

6. I select "open" and get a message "This is an invalid file"

In windows, I follow the first 3 steps and find "Radar" in the list of plugins, select install and it installs, ver 5.2.2.

So where have I screwed up? Where can I find a good version of the 5.3.4 tar.gz file?

Did you use OpenCPN in the flatpak version ? Then you all the plugins available.

First install the flatpak enviroment: sudo apt install flatpak.
then go to de flathub site and search for OpenCPN.
click on install (does no install but downloads instruction set for install)

go to your Download folder. There you see the instruction set.

then in the terminal:

sudo flatpak install (the tekst of the instruction set)

Now you have another version of OpenCPN on your systeem.

Go the plugins. Update the plugi master.

Then you all the available plugins of OpenCPN.
