OpenCPN 5.6.2 (windows 10) and dongle: freezing

After about 9 months of no OpenCPN activity I reopened it on my W10 machine, and guess what: all worked ok again. With a dongle inserted, OpenCPN starts, o-charts can be opened, refreshed, anything.. I do not have a clue what has changed but it works again.
The suggestions by Hakan on May 21 2022 had unfortunately not worked at the time, so back then I had put the whole issue on the backburner until a few days ago.

Very good! If anything have to be said: Some Windows update made the SG-lock to be functional? But we may not bother when it's working I suppose.

Likely indeed.
However if that is the case I wonder how much attention is being paid by o-charts developers with regards to the interface between Windows OS and their app.
