OpenCPN - AIS - Vessel name

Hello,

For some reasons, my AIS (Garmin AIS 600) only gives me the MMSI numbers of the vessels around me and their flag, but not the vessels names nor the length. These information appear as being "unknown".

Has anyone experienced the same and hopefully found a solution?

Not. all ais transponders have that info entered

The messages you miss are not sent so often as the other you have. Could it be a difference if you wait a while?
Else are you using NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 to OCPN?

There are multiple types of AIS messages. The more frequent include MMSI and position. The less frequent include extra static info such as the ships name. You might need to wait 6 minutes for this extra information. If you are not receiving messages reliably (say you only get 50% of them because of an antenna or coax issue) it could take much longer.
